As her co-author said in another book I read, she used a lot of butter and cream! Of course, if you are not eating that way all the time, you can find some delicious options in here. But the most striking thing for me is how she makes so many recipes using meat substitutes. If you're looking for a cookbook with varied recipes that don't always seem like a variation of a meat- or poultry-based meal, this isn't it. But if you'd like to go vegetarian, partly or fully, you'll find some tasty stuff in here without feeling like your whole diet has changed. Reading the recipes, I realized how often we use animal-based protein when we can have just as enjoyable a meal without it.It's fun to see traditional foods like bangers and mash adapted to a vegetarian option.

Well, I am not a vegetarian, but these recipes all looked easy and tasty. Her frozen foods are still sold in the U.K.

I owned this book back in the 80's and lost it during one of my many moves. I was thrilled to find it on Amazon. It has practical recipies. Not allot of gormet ingriedients.

Overall, this cook book was a good place for me to start. Having recently turned vegetarian and with little experience in the kitchen, I needed a range of meals that would be fairly quick and easy for me to do and that would stop me becoming bored and going back to meat. Although some of the recipes may seem a little dated, the majority have stood the test of time. There are also some recipes for more experienced cooks and/or those willing to put in a bit more time than me. Not bad for my first cook book.

Bought this book when I first turned veggie, sadly leant it out once to often and it never came back. Seeing it again reminded me of all the great recipes and although some of the products have slightly changed (mostly for the better) it still stands up for a range of great meat free dishes without too much fuss or bother.
