Actually effective & great for sensitive skin
I have sensitive skin, so this is one of the only deodorants I have found that does not bother me, and actually works to deodorize body odor. It is not an antiperspirant - you will still sweat - but it DOES get rid of the stink. And I'm not just talking about covering up your BO with a perfume. The various scents of the deodorant are actually pretty subtle. I think it works because it has natural ingredients (herbs with antibacterial and antifungal properties, etc.) that kill bacteria get rid of the smell. If I'm stinky (after the gym, etc.) and I put this on, most of the stink goes away after about 10-15 minutes. It may not work the same way as a mainstream, synthetic deodorant (Old Spice, etc.) but if you want something more natural, or more hypoallergenic, this is a great choice. It definitely works better than the crystal stick deodorant or a lot of the other "hippie" deodorants out there. The deodorant itself is a soft stick. It easily spreads onto your skin and hairs, and has a bit of a moisturizing effect, kind of like a lotion. This is ideal for dry/sensitive/eczema-prone skin, which can become further irritated by sweat and wet hairs rubbing as you move around. The deodorant will coat your skin with a thin, non-greasy barrier against irritation, and also removes the stink from your sweat. It is gentle enough to use in more personal/sensitive areas also, if that's something you're looking for. I prefer the "Dusk" scent, which I think is more subtle; my fiance prefers the "Forest" scent which is piney and a bit spicier. "Wild" is also pretty spicy, and I think the least subtle out of these 3. I have not tried any of the other scents.

read this and you will buy this
just made the switch to paraben free stuff. and it works for me, i am not overly sticky guy but if i miss a day of deodorant i can smell myself from outside my shirt. smells good when you put it on, smell lessens thru out the day but i never smelt bad. but i do put it once twice since i work out mid day. I also like the kiss my face deodorant as well. i made the switch after reading up on parabens- i found this on livestrong dot com "Parabens are preservatives that are found in numerous household products, especially beauty products, including shampoo, sunscreen, lotion and makeup. Manufacturers use parabens for their preservative and antimicrobial benefits. When you use beauty products that contain parabens, they absorb into your body through your skin. The parabens wash down the drain when you bathe and end up in the water supply, eventually finding their way into your drinking water and into fish and other aquatic life. Endocrine Disruption According to an article in "Critical Reviews in Toxicology," parabens disrupt the human endocrine system. Parabens affect the endocrine system by interrupting the body's natural process of hormone production. When you are exposed to parabens, the chemicals can cause your body to send fake signals to your endocrine glands, confusing the glands and disrupting their normal process of creating and releasing hormones. Your endocrine glands are responsible for sending signals to every system in your body, making disruption of the endocrine system a serious health problem that can lead to metabolic and neurological disorders. Premature Aging Despite being used in many beauty products that are supposed to reduce the appearance of aging, methylparabens, one type of paraben, have been found to make your skin look older when used topically. Researchers at the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine in Japan found that methylparabens make your skin more sensitive to sun damage. In the Japanese study, skin cells that were treated with methylparabens and exposed to ultraviolet rays died at a much higher rate than skin cells that did not contain parabens. Skin that was treated with parabens was also found to have higher levels of lipid peroxide, a substance that speeds the skin's appearance of aging. Mimics Estrogen Parabens have been found to mimic estrogen, according to researchers at the Tokyo Metropolitan Research Laboratory of Public Health's Department of Toxicology. A study by the department found reduced sperm levels in male rats exposed to parabens. The rats also experienced a reduction in testosterone levels. In women, disrupted levels of estrogen can lead to problems with menstruation, fertility and pregnancy. The Natural Progesterone Advisory Network website states that the synthetic estrogens in parabens can lead to menstrual cramps and endometriosis pain in women. Linked to Breast Cancer A BBC News story from 2004 states that researchers at the University of Reading found traces of parabens in tumors removed from breast cancer patients. According to Dr. Philippa Darbre, one of the conductors of the study, since parabens mimic estrogen and estrogen can speed the growth of tumors, parabens could have an effect on the development of breast cancer."

the official DEO for the BO in my household and it should be in yours too!
This is the only 'natural' deodorant my husband will use. He absolutely swears by it and it's all he will wear now (specifically DUSK scent). It has a strong but very pleasant masculine scent to it that actually works to keep B.O. at bay throughout the day though reapplication as needed is encouraged as there is no aluminum and anti sweating agents you will still perspire but this will help with the smell. My husband tried many different natural type deodorants before landing with this god-send of a deodorant . He went through the coconut oil based deodorants which harden with cooler temperatures and rip out arm pit hairs upon application (I'm sure you can image the outrage and horror of looking at your deodorant stick with so much hair stuck to it like you used it on the cat), then there was the "fruit" scents which throughout the day really turned into awful BO with a hint of lime or some other fruit when then you are unable to each said fruit due to odd smells you have encountered and then there were the liquid crystals or liquid deodorants that he tried and hated as you just feel wet, and then your clothes are wet. Then it's just a drying, sweat, dry again and sweat some more after that. This deodorant can hold to a man's BO and is the official DEO for the BO in my household and it should be in yours too!

Good first experience using a deodorant without junk in it
I'm probably like most people who know that there are some unsavory things in the products we use on a daily basis, but maybe haven't committed to using products that are "good" for you. Primarily out of fear of these alternative product just not holding up. Fortunately I found that Herban Cowboy does a good job on delivering on almost all fronts with their "Dusk" deodorant stick. My biggest concern is finding a product that will hold up, I don't want my deodorant quitting mid-day on me, fortunately 95% of the time this product works through the work day, and the few times it doesn't are typically longer or more stressful than usual days. While the product isn't perfect, it's held up better than I would have expected compared to what I'm used to. So if you're interested in trying a natural alternative product, this is worth checking out! Pros: Pleasant smell Natural product Holds up for most days Cons: Pricier than traditional deodorants Won't last as long as other deodorants in extreme cases

Irritated my underarms
In recent years, deodorants all across shelves and inter-webs have irritated my skin. I tried going au natural for a while but working in retail, that just simply canโt be. I started reaching for deodorants that were vegan, natural, and contained clean ingredients. I did a lot of research and decided to give this brand a try considering the good reviews from customers on this listing, and on the web. My first use of this deodorant was great. Lasts my whole shift without having to reapply. The next few uses tho took a real toll on my skin. So much so that Iโd have to rush into the bathroom to wash my armpits because of the rash and itchiness I was developing. I wonโt chalk it up to the ingredients of this product tho, maybe the scent thatโs used? Either way, itโs a real bummer that this deodorant didnโt work in my favor because it smells great and lasts the longest out of the ones Iโve previously tried. If you have an intolerance to added scents, maybe tread with caution on this one, but if thatโs not much of a factor for you, please give it a go. The ingredients are better than leading competitors and for the people that love sleek packaging, this is a fantastic choice. Happy purchasing!

This is good stuff!
I've been using Herban Cowboy deodorant for 5 years now and it's never let me down. Nice scent, long lasting and best of all, it's made from ingredients that don't compromise a persons health by people who give a hoot about health and the world we live on. Gotta say, smelling bad is not good unless you're a ski bum and it's a badge of honor. Hey really, why take money out of your PBR fund for deodorant, but as for me, I don't want to interfere with someone else's happiness by smelling like a rat that climbed out of a sewer, so I use this stuff and it's great. As an aside I'll say that I'd had trouble with smelling bad for years until I read in Prevention magazine that bad body odor is usually due to a zinc deficiency. I got a zinc supplement and a week and a half later the problem was gone. It was amazing. Of course everyone is different, but if you work out, drink beer, or have a body prone to a zinc deficiency, you might give it a try - use some Herban Cowboy deodorant and you're good to go out to dinner, dancing, to a show, or just be close to somebody.

No More Weird Reactions!
Let me preface this by saying Iโm generally a skeptic when it comes to a lot of whatโs passing as naturopathy and alternative health trends these days. Thatโs not to say I donโt believe them to be plausible, or that I donโt want to take good care of my personal health, but simply that I know that this world revolves around the almighty dollar and naturopathy is no exception. It is a multi-billion dollar business susceptible to the same kinds of questionable behaviors as the โmainstreamโ companies they criticize. That being said... out of nowhere I developed some kind of allergy or reaction to most deodorant. Instead of reducing perspiration I would become irritated and sweat profusely. I realized the connection when due to the irritation I abstained from putting deodorant on for a day and the problem vanished. Some more research and I determined the problem to be more likely a hormonal response than an allergy. So, fast forward to a whole test procedure using about ten different types of deodorants I purchased from Whole Foods and from the drug store- everything from your standards to the crystal roll-on to Tomโs and various other natural brands. I would wake up in the morning, shower and then put a different type of deodorant under each arm. I then repeated this for about 2 weeks and kept a log. Contrary to what I expected it the same issues occurred with Tomโs and other โnaturalโ deodorant brands. Even the crystal roll-on caused the same issue. In the end this Herban Cowboy brand (including the fragrance free and fragrance types) was the clear winner. I canโt say that youโll have the experience I had, but if you are going through something similar itโs worth looking into. Also, my girlfriend is a fan of the โDuskโ scent in particular and so thatโs why the review is appearing here. Iโm not picky about this sort of thing but I also think this might be the best scent of the bunch. However, all the scents could be viable options for me or someone else with the same issue. So, why Herban Cowboy? I canโt know for sure. Iโd never heard of this brand before and chose it at random while wandering through the isle, being drawn in by the โno Phthalates, Aluminum or Triclosanโ sticker on the front. (It was an interesting Whole Foods check out experience to go through with a basket full of deodorant) I took a look at all the ingredients of the various types and Aluminum Chlorohydrate seems to be the glaring difference thatโs in the Tomโs of Maine and not in Herban Cowboy. The other deodorants that continued to cause this issue for me all had different forms of Aluminum. The roll-on Crystal even contains Potassium Alum. So my best guess after a thorough label comparison is that the Aluminum or its derivatives played a role. Polypropylene Glycol may have had an effect as well. Iโm just so thankful that I donโt have to deal with this anymore, as it was rather uncomfortable and embarrassing. Iโve attached a photo of the ingredients to help others make an informed decision. If this works for you, there are also soap bars and other hygiene products in the line with the same scent. I have bought the Dusk soap bar but havenโt had an opportunity to give it a whirl. Hope this helps someone.

Great Smell. Good Product.
I've been using this deodorant now for long enough to go through somewhere around 5-10 sticks. I previously used deodorants from various other mainstream brands like Old Spice - Pure Sport. These left my pits feeling a bit sensitive and red. Despite that I forged on because I figured all deodorants were the same. Once I looked into it some more, I started experimenting with other brands and less chemical additives. Many of these other fancy sticks (upwards of ~$20 each) left me smelling a bit too 'manly' by the end of the day at my office. It was enough to leave me feeling not so fresh and avoid lifting my arms. Fast forward to starting to use this brand and I'd say that 80-90% of the time, I'm acceptably fresh when I get home. The other 10-20% of the time it might be a particularly hot, active, and/or stressful day that pumps out a bit more sweat than this can handle. Nevertheless, it leaves my pits feeling good and it doesn't irritate the skin in the application area. The smell has been complimented by my lady and prior ladies. It also pairs well with a light musk scented cologne that I use. Overall, this deodorant has survived trade shows, flights, long car rides, and hot meeting rooms. Plus, it lacks those harsher chemicals so it's an overall win.

Smells incredible.
I already used this product but my store hasn't been able to find it. Vegan. Not-cheap but great quality and lasts. Amazing scent.

My man likes it
I order this product for my spouse because it is his favourite, and I also like the scent. it is the only deodorant he uses now since I found it. Would not recommend since I don't want my friend's husband's smelling like mine. LOL!
