So is this made in China? Is the German line of grinders going to stick around?

Yes, it’s made in China by a Japanese company, formerly Hitachi. Don’t let that stop you. It’s definitely heavy duty and powerful. The arming case is strong enough to stand on! I got the whole thing for $39. Not sure why it’s $49 here, but still worth it.

This is described as a 10k rpm grinder, but p10 of the manual says “use only depressed center wheels rated at 13,300/min or more.” which is it?

Hi there! It is recommended that only depressed center wheels be used. The 13,300RPM phrase is only a conservative number that covers the wheel getting smaller and the possibility of the RPM spiking above 10,000RPM.
