Duke Men's Chelsea Boot

The quality is top notch. They are a little tight on the neck when putting them on and taking them off. But once on, you wanna keep them on. They don't only look amazing, but they feel amazing also. THANK YOU... better than my Chelseas!! That was hard to believe!! 😀

The hardest thing about buying clothing and shoes online is getting proper fit. Once you get dialed in with a specific brand, then it's easy to move on from there. I see a lot of conflicting information online about how Thursday boots (and every other company) fit, especially because some people wear shoes that are too small for them and think they "fit," and others get shoes too large and put in insoles and/or wear thick socks. It's subjective. The words "true to size" are meaningless unless there is a frame of reference. No two companies have the exact same last (shape of the footbed), some are longer/shorter, narrower/wider, taller/shallower footbed, pointed/rounded, etc, etc. For a frame of reference, I measure a 12.5 in the Brannock device for length. I wear 14 in Puma and Nike, 13.5 in Adidas, 12 in most Clarks, and anywhere from 11.5 to 13 in other men's shoes. I tried 11.5, 12 and 13 in Thursday Boots. 13 seems to be a perfect fit, with room for my toes. Long story short: For Thursday boots, I wear 1/2 size LARGER than the Brannock length measurement. As far as the boots go, they are obviously well made and you will get way more compliments than you want. If I have a suggestion, it's that the leather inside the boots and on the footbed is quite slippery, so you'll slide around at first until they shape to your feet, lending the idea that they are too large for some. Get past the break in (typically 5-7 days of use) and you'll realize how nice these boots are. I've worn everything from expensive boots to Red Wing Heritage (beautifully made but rock hard soles except for the Moc Toe boots) and these really are a great value. They are cheap enough that you won't feel sick if they get ruined, but expensive enough to be well made and to remind you to take good care of them. Get your size right and you'll be happy: 1/2 size over Brannock device length measurement.

Original review - Size 9 1/2 Boots arrived in an amazon box not a Thursday Boot Company box. The box itself noted "this item has been repackaged in recyclable packaging because the original box was damaged in transit." OK, well that box was too small and the boots were crammed in there. The boots were also not wrapped in plastic bags inside the box for protection as they are when shipped by Thursday. They also did not come with the quality guarantee card signed by the person who inspected the shoe when shipped by Thursday. (See Thursday boot unboxing vids for reference). For spending $200 on boots, I'd prefer to receive exactly what I paid for in the condition it is intended to sent from the merchant; not a hastily repacked item. I could overlook all of this if the boots were a home run - more on the fit below. I typically wear a 10.5 street shoe. I ordered a 9.5 and they were too big. The boot is high volume. There was extra space on the in the heel and on the top of my foot. Pushing my foot forward in the boot made it feel more fitting; however, this would induce pretty bad heel slip and be a general annoyance (enough that I would never want to wear them).The opening of the boot is also a bit larger than expected. If you wear slimmer jeans, theres a high chance you may see the boot outline at the bottom when walking and/or standing (if you care about that sort of thing). I may try a 9 after the return is complete (which seems a bit wild as I've never been close to a 9 in any other footwear). The boots themselves do seem well made and have a nice look. The jury is out on whether the last/design is just built for a larger, more high volume foot or if a smaller size will provide a good fit. Updated review - Size 9: Shoes arrived in a battered Thursday boot box but were individually wrapped with the quality assurance card. Size 9 did fit better; however, it was tight in the toes while still having too much space surrounding the heel (which would cause slippage and blisters). The boot opening was still a bit too large to fit nicely under slim jeans (you could see the boot outline around the cuff of the pants). The color of this boot was also a flatter brown with minimal texture and the maroon elastic fabric did not look as vibrant. Again, they do seem well made, but the fit isn't for me.

Very nicely made, but heavier than wanted. Fit was spot on., wearing a size 9 EE.

I had already purchased a brown pair of Chelsea boots from another brand at a lower price. After purchasing these, the difference is astounding. First the packaging. It was like an early Christmas wrapped gift. Upon opening, the smell of genuine leather was pleasantly profound. The weight of these are also much heavier. Fit is great. One of the better quality and value Chelsea boots on the market. I have several varying Chelsea boot models and multiple pairs of sneakers. Due to having in hand an Amazon gift card I opted for these Duke boots through Amazon that I’ve been eyeing for a while. I assumed that ordering through the Amazon platform was equivalent to buying from the Thursday site. I was drastically wrong and grossly mistaken. For as long as I had to wait via ordering via Amazon the boots finally arrived with what would I would equate to Outlet Mall quality and sorely missing QI checks. Bubbles under leather in addition to horrendous stitching. This is grossly disappointing and different from anything I’ve ever brought from the Thursday site. Once you know … you know. Jokes on me I guess

Boots came within 2 days of ordering. If I ordered off their site, I would have to wait at least a week or two. They are comfortable right out of the box. Sizing is pretty accurate. Maybe a little bit on the larger side. Not as light as my Blundstones. A bit on the heavier side as they are Goodyear welted. Solid construction and the water resistance suede is a bonus.

The Thursday boots Chelsea boots I ordered were very good quality, but unfortunately they didn't fit my foot. It was no problem at all to exchange the model for the Thursday boots Captain, which are also high quality and fit my foot very well. During the entire ordering process, I was assisted by very competent and friendly staff who monitored the delivery and offered immediate solutions when difficulties arose. I would like to see such a reliable and transparent service from many German companies. Thank you!

Order your true size if you have wider feet, took a little breaking in as the suede is hardy stuff. Well worth it !

Lovely product. I ordered for 10.5 but was too tight. I then returned that and ordered for 11. That feels ok but a little tight. Scared to order the next size as I love my shoes well fitted.
