Question 1

Is this considered a cyclonic dust collector system?  I see it's advertised as a "vortex cone" but now sure if that means the same thing.

Not really. Most cyclones are part of a two-stage system. Air first comes in through a cyclone that separates out 95%+ of the particles. The air next goes through the vacuum motor and associated filter.

In the Jet system, the air first comes in through the vacuum motor. Next it travels to the vortex cone which help direct particles and dust downward. Remaining air eventually travels up and out through the filter.

what's the CFM rating?

The specifications state that the air flow rating for all models in the DC-1100VX series is 1100 CFX. The motor is rated 1.5 HP, 11A @ 115V  I personally have the -CK model (canister filter kit) as I was looking for filtering down to the I micron level... this model is rated at 74% efficient at this size, 98% at 5 microns.  The unit has met all my expectations and works exceptionally well with stationary tools having a 4" exhaust port.  I have noticed no appreciable dust release  when using the unit in conjunction with a Jet 22/44 oscillation drum sander.  It is a bit more challenging with open tools, being necessary to place a collection hood in just the right location.  I would recommend this unit without hesitation for shop applications that need a portable, efficient collector.

Question 3

The cannister gets clogged with fine dust so I give it a thorough cleaning with my shop vac. Can this filter be washed with water?

I would not recommend it. If you spin the filter handles as recommended you shouldn’t have to clean out the filter very often. Maybe once every other bag or so depending on what you are doing.

Can you  take off the dual 4" port and run a bigger main line?

In my experience as a custom cabinet maker I've noticed the cfm of the 2 4" ports together is about the same as (in my case with a shop fox) when you remove it and use a 6" port. Though covering one of the 4 inch ports while not as powerful as the 6 inch port it is stronger suction than than leaving both open. That being said. It's really 6 in one. Half a dozen the other.
