I am very pleased with the content of the book, it's illustration, etc. Very user friendly. Book arrived quickly, with great packaging, and was in great shape.

Urgh. This book really is *the* guide to making your home better. But, well, just be careful if you give it as a gift. If you're not careful, you may end up having to help.

Home Improvement for Dummies
While this book did not cover the subject that I was interested it, it did contain many interesting project to think about. It is a good source when you are thinking about making some improvements to your home.

Home Improvement for dummies
I got it for a friend of mine to help them make repairs to my home. They have a lot of projects going, hopefully this book will help light the fire. They read what they needed to do, and they said that it was easily explainable and ready to tackle the job .... Now,when that will take place ... One day .. LOL. Really thought it looked like it was a good deal and you could read it and understand what it's trying to tell you. So, let me say what I read from another reviewer .... If your looking at this item, your interested in buying it. Go ahead and take the chance. I recommend it.

I have used this book many times since buying my 1st home. Many helpful tidbits and information. I recommend this book to any home owner or someone who appreciates layman terms to fixing the home.

Old content
I am a librarian at a university and the buyer must be aware of what they are buying. This book is a *reprint* of the 1998 book "Home Improvement For Dummies." Amazon, the Wiley website, and the For Dummies website all erroneously report the book as having a date of 2012. This is wrong. The content of the book is 14 years old. Inside the book, the copyright date is 1998. ("Look Inside" at the verso of the book.) I could not find 2012 mentioned at all. The fact that it is a reprint, second printing, or any printing is not mentioned. I contacted the publisher directly and they told me it was a reprint. Contact Wiley or For Dummies and ask them yourself! I expressed my disapproval. It is very possible that Amazon did not know that the age of the product was misrepresented. Publishers provide the information about their materials. Now, you may find it acceptable that the content is 14 years old. Some home improvement options may not have changed significantly since 1998. But for myself, with the changes in the housing market and the economy and houses in the past 14 years, I will be returning this book and buying something more current. It is a shame. I used to like the For Dummies series. Now, I am more suspicious. I AM keeping "Home Maintenance for Dummies" (2010, 2nd ed.).
