A very good choice.
I have two of these and theyโre essential for my home office set-up where I have lots of devices to plug in. So far theyโre holding up well and are easy to use day-to-day.

A Great USB Solution
I had so many peripherals connected to my PC Tower/Server that it would freeze on boot-up. I also had a USB line connected to a large safe for the data storage drives located inside the safe. After some research, I ordered two of these highly rated, Atolla, powered hubs. I removed all of the USB connections from the PC Tower/Server and connected everything directly to this self powered USB hub. I then connected the input of this self powered USB hub, to the USB connection on the PC Tower/Server. I placed the second of these Atolla, powered hubs inside our safe. There, it presently powers three data storage drives and allows for future expansion. This solved all of my USB problems with virtually no power drain on the systemโs internal USB ports. This hub will work without plugging in the included wall-wart, power supply. However the added power boost of the AC connection makes everything work better. The individual power switches on each USB port is a great feature. One can turn off the unused ports. I can only see 2 negatives in the design. I wish that it had an in-line power supply with a regular electric cord. The included wall-wart, power supply is large and difficult to plug in to a power strip with other items. I also wish that the hub would automatically shut off when the computer is turned off and/or when there is no USB signal feeding the hub. In self powered mode, it stays on 24/7, which translates in to your USB peripherals being continually powered. Over all, this a great product. It is a major upgrade to any computer. Update: After using these self-powered hubs for a while, I would offer a tip. They do a great job but when using more than one hub connected directly to the same computer, I had a little glitch on boot-up. The problem was eliminated by feeding the second, self powered hub, from one of the USB ports on the first self powered hub. (daisy-chained) This worked much better than having both hubs connected directly to the same computer.

It really works with high-capacity external hard drives!
Refer to website for pictures. This powered 7-port USB Hub 3.0 really works with USB thumb drives, SanDisk SSDs and Seagate high capacity 5TB portable hard drives. I connected to one wireless mouse and 3 5TB hard drives. The mouse moves smoothly and the contents of 5TB hard drives are accessible and display clearly. It serves as an extended USB 3.0 Hub flawlessly. The added external power to the USB hub really made the difference. My new laptop only came with one power input USB type-C port, one USB type-A port and one USB type-C port. This multi-USB port hub really makes up the deficiency of the new, thinner laptops. The only drawback of this USB hub is that the LED indicator light for each port is too bright and becomes annoying sometimes.

Great for 2.5 years. Then not so great. USB 3 funtionality quit. Still does USB 2
Worked great for 2.5 years. Added 7 USB3 ports to my PC. Seems like everything is USB so I needed extra ports. Sadly, about 6 months ago, USB 3 devices stopped working. They powered up, but no communication. USB 2 devices though, still work, so I suppose it is the internal circuitry. I checked the port it was plugged into on the computer to be sure it was USB 3, and changed to another USB 3 port, but still no USB functionality in the device. I noticed this first when a High quality, 256g USB3 thumb drive quit working. It still worked in a USB 2 port, but had all sorts of errors on the USB3 port. I believe this hub damaged the circuitry in the thumb drive. It no longer works on any USB 3 port, then stopped working on USB2. Then I noticed that none of my USB 3 devices worked on this hub. So I have no proof, but I believe this hub's internal circuitry failed and damaged my thumb drive. So disappointed, because until this incident, this was a great hub. Heavy wiring, came with power supply, worked flawlessly until it didn't. I am considering replacing it with this same model, but not sure. I have 10 year old USB 2 hubs still working well, and I don't know if this brand is an issue, or maybe similar brands have the same chipset and prone to the same issues. If you ask me a year ago, I would of been 5 stars and a hearty recommendation. BTW, the hub is on a UPS system and surge protected. The port it was connected to is on the motherboard, and the port is fine. So it did not damage my PC or port. Since I use a lot of USB 3 devices now, I am going to remove this, as using it as a USB 2 hub is not useful.

Excellent powered USB hub for a work setup
I bought this for my work laptop so I could simplify all the cables and connections on my desk and run several accessories through one hub.Right now I have my monitor adapter, external hard drive, Jabra speaker, printer, and LAN connection all running through this device, and it works perfectly.Setup was easy, including downloading the required driver. That took maybe 5 minutes, and another 10 minutes to plug everything in and clean up the cable management. My desk is much cleaner now, everything works correctly, and the individual on/off switches are a nice bonus.Very happy with this purchase.

Works well and does not get hot. You can turn them on and off is what I like.
This is very nice, and saves me from kneeling on the floor to plug in the power stripe. Purchased this because my little ACER does not have enough USB "Female" on the back of it.

Solid 4.5 - Worked for almost 4 years
Pros:Works as plannedSet it up one time and never have to do it againUseful when plugging in extra USB when the PC or Mac has limited USB portsUSB 3.0 - Faster data speedsWill power devices from computers USB port. Doesn't need power supplyOne device for all my USB needs.Cons:- Power Supply broke after almost 4 years of use. So when I removed the cable my computer all devices needing usb power (i.e. desklight, fan, charging of headset) stopped working. Need to purchase a new one.- Only one Power Port. For me, I want more USB power ports to use with my phone, tablet, fan, light, headset or other devices needing power.Overall a solid 4.5. I loved how simple it is and how it kept my desk cleared from USB electrical power plugs

Still works fine after a couple years.
Bought this one and another brand for different uses (one office, the other in the music studio). This is the one that still works; the other c*apped out. It has been running all my midi keyboards into a computer interface in the studio; no issues. Recently the other one in the office was supposed to connect the wireless keyboard and mouse, and I found it stopped working. I pulled this one over to verify basic functionality - it sits behind a Playable port; so one step removed from the computer itself. Works fine. Now buying another to reconnect the office setup. The on/off switches are great because sometimes I want to run the wireless keyboard & mouse, but sometimes I want to run the laptop's onboard trackpad. The wireless mouse has to be off to able the laptop's trackpad and I don't want to have to plug and unplug the wireless dongles all the time. I know that might sound like I'm being a bit of a prima donna, but the issue isn't hassle, it's wear-n-tear. Anyone who's a sound or computer engineer knows the I/O ports on a computer or any piece of expensive electronic (musical) gear are what fail first. Constantly plugging / unplugging stuff is the source of wear. I'd rather wear out the switch on a $25 piece of USB hub hardware, as opposed to a $2500 computer or other expensive peripheral. So this unit and its on/off switches fits the bill perfectly.
