This is my second record player. The first one I owned was one of those suitcase record players. That first player served it's purpose for quite awhile. I was, by no means, a true audiophile at that time. It was my first foray into vinyl music so i didnt know what I was doing. I've been in the hobby for 3 years now and still not an expert but I do have more experience/understanding under my belt these days. I've wanted to take a step up and improve my listening experience so I started looking for a new player. I figured most anything would've been better than what I had. After almost giving myself analysis paralysis, I settled with this one and WOW! I'm so glad i did. I've owned this player for almost a year and I swear that I love it more and more every single time I turn it on. It's kind of crazy to me with how good it sounds and how inexpensive it is considering you get a good belt-driven player, decent cartridge AND passive speakers. It's truly plug and play. An amazing first system for people that want to venture into the hobby without breaking the bank. The sound from this setup is extremely WARM and "romantic". Digital music is always compressed to some sort. Vinyl music is purely the song. No compression. Nothing. It's exactly as it was recorded. I often explain to people that haven't experienced vinyl is that: when you listen to music in your vehicle or streaming to headphones from your phone, you LISTEN to the music. Which is all fine and good. But when you drop that needle on a record, you not only listen to the music, you FEEL the music. It's like a soft hug from your favorite songs. It sounds so snobby but it's how it makes me feel. I find myself listening to more music than i ever have in my whole life with this player. Every song just feels so good! Now, there's a whole rabbit hole to go down because there's other vinyl players that make it feel less warm but more detailed and vibrant. But the warmth is exactly why *i* love vinyl music. I dont need pinpoint musical accuracy. You might have different preferences and that's okay! That's the great thing about the hobby. There's hundred of configurations/setups to give you exactly what you want down the road. Me? I just want the warmth and that romantic, personal feeling. Like the song is playing just for me and this vinyl player gives me all of that. I'm considering upgrading my setup even further, but i'm scared i'm going to lose the amazing sound that this give me. TLDR: This is an AMAZING player. True plug and play! No real experience necessary. For the price, features, and quality. I find it hard to believe you'll find a better setup at this price point if you're looking for your first player. I can't recommend this setup high enough to you all!

The 1ByOne turntable. We wanted to get a small inexpensive turntable that we wouldn’t be too scared to use around our 2 year old son. Also to get started with a compact and simple integrated system for convenience. However, knowing the all in one suitcase turntables etc are not great, we were looking for something slightly better, without going too expensive or high end. This turntable seemed the fit the bill for a reasonable price, I didn’t have high hopes for the best sound but thought it should be good enough to use. It’s integrated but the speakers are separate, which is important. I have to say after setting it all up (really very easy) and from putting the first record on, I was quite amazed at how good it sounds. Like many turntables at this level it comes with an AT3600(L) cart and stylus. While this is a budget stylus it’s actually surprisingly good. Tracking force is high at 3.5g (1 full turn and 1.5g more). I found you can run it a little lighter at 2.5-3g without any noticeable issue. The cart looks upgradable being on standard screw mounts. You can also put a better stylus on the existing cart for a minor upgrade. However the 3600L sounds very good for the price. The turntable has a belt drive motor set into the base which drives a plastic wheel, on top sits a heavy cast iron platter. On top of that, a felt slip mat. The platter itself is very sturdy and doesn’t transmit a lot of noise. I am sure the slip mat could easily be upgraded but the one it comes with seemed sufficient to start out. The motor is unlikely synchronous but at this price point that’s fine. The arm and mechanism seems decent, it comes with the hanging anti-skate, which was a key reason we got this model over others that do not support that. Make sure you install this properly. Make sure the turntable is very level and away from vibration, such as front the speakers. Take time to set the weight carefully, you can special get stylus scales for this (not expensive). I am sure this deck is much better than anything you used to be able to get at this price point. About the speakers, for such tiny boxes they have a relatively decent sound. These are not toys. Rear ported, reasonable base extension. Quite clear sound, great midrange actually, very clear. Take up almost no space. They also look nice, with the grills off too. They sound bigger than their tiny size. The only thing I changed so far was the speaker cable to something a bit more expensive. Shortly after we were given a nice vintage receiver and of course the benefit of a turntable like this with phono/line outputs and separate speakers was we were able to slot that in and run the turntable into the receiver and the speakers from it. So a 2 box system that is now quite versatile, especially with the Bluetooth (which works fine). So, overall, pretty impressed with it for the price. My last system was a project expression 3, carbon fibre arm, Ortofon 2M Black, project phono RS preamp, Arcam main amp, Audes Blues 2 speakers and high end pure silver cables. So while it doesn’t live up to the sound of that (which was amazing) to give this little unit some credit, for the price it’s pretty good! So overall I recommend it. Potentially you could budget for upgrading the speaker wire and the slip mat at some stage, even the cartridge perhaps later on. It’s still a cheap system and it is far better than these all in one units that are so popular. If you did nothing to it, just set it up probably and I doubt you could fail to enjoy it. Just get some more records and enjoy... 😊

This is my first turntable. To be honest I was a bit intimidated buying a turntable system even though I handle much more expensive and complicated electronics. Not knowing exactly what I was getting myself into made it a little overwhelming, but I came across this system and decided to bite the bullet. I am so glad I did. Overall, I am impressed with the quality of this system. It doesn't have that cheap feel that a lot of newer electronics like this have. The turntable base, platter, tone arm, and dust cover all feel fairly heavy and well made. The 1byOne manual made it a cinch to set up including adjusting counterweight on the tonearm. I got it balanced on my first try. I got this whole system up and running in about 20 minutes, add about 10 more for unboxing carefully. As I said I'm not familiar with turntables, but I am impressed with the overall sound even with the underwhelming speakers included. I am excited to try this on some nice speakers and really hear the vinyl shine. My one complaint would be the lack of 5 way binding posts for the speaker terminals on the turntable. Spring loaded terminals gave an unfortunately cheap feel to an otherwise great looking/feeling product. The speakers, on the other hand are something I am very familiar with. They aren't terrible, but they're not great. They are your average, small, inexpensive, spring-loaded terminal, bookshelf speakers with paper cones. The highs are clear if a bit shrill at times, the mids are weighty without being overbearing, and the lows, well, there's nothing to really speak of here. Honestly though, I wasn't expecting much out of the speakers from a $229 system. To get anything really impressive be prepared to spend at least $229 per speaker. However, that being said, as a gift or even for someone who just wants an easy, no fuss way to get into or back into vinyl I can't really say it's a bad deal. My only real complaint would be the speaker wire, even a couple gauges higher would have been a big plus. As far as the other features of this system I am not too excited by them, but others may be. Bluetooth functions as expected. It connected easily to my iPhone and on the first try. It sounds exactly as you would expect a low-mid range bluetooth system to sound: decent, but if you're planning on using this table as your main BT listening source, look elsewhere. The USB to computer recording functionality is cool, but I suspect anyone who is buying this to use to play vinyl would not be taking advantage of this. That being said I did NOT test this functionality. As far as I can tell you CANNOT play music through the USB nor is it mentioned anywhere in the specs this is just a "btw". So far I am very happy with this purchase. Can't wait to add it in to my existing stereo setup. Now, which vinyl to get my hands on next. Overall rating 4 stars. Sound quality 3 stars because of the speakers 5 stars for giftability 4 stars value for money.

Greetings! I hope my review of this item will be helpful to all, both sellers and potential buyers! The quick overall: This is definitely worth what you pay for! To start, the packaging it arrived in was very clean and neat. Not too much difficulty unpacking and organizing along my basement area where I planned to put it. The parts box was well-organized and even listed exactly what was inside. I was impressed with the quality packaging. Assembly was relatively easy to follow with the provided instruction booklet. I am a newbie when it comes to having to assemble a tonearm, so for me it got a little tricky and took the most time in the whole process (maybe about 45 minutes). The instructions provided a very nice layout of exactly how to do it and values to aim for when setting the counterweight. I would recommend reading it over carefully a few times and possibly research a few videos online if you need a visual aid. The counterweight itself was easy enough to put on and adjust to level it, however, when it came to assembling the anti-skate weight, this is where I ran into a small dilemma. The loop of the wire on the anti-skate weight (it feels like a very small, fine piece of fishing line) was not tied off so I had to get a flash-light, magnifying glass, and needle nose pliers to knot it off at the right notch. Once I got that done, everything else was relatively easy. One thing that had me a little baffled is that this product came with what looks like a little “key” thing that was not noted anywhere in the instructions (I included a picture). I fumbled around with it and thought that it was supposed to be used to adjust the anti-skate weight somehow, but I really have no idea. So, I stored it as an extra piece. Once fully assembled, though, the turntable itself looks very simplistic and neat, looks and feels solid, and is just really nice! It fits well in basically any setting, in my opinion. Right now, it looks beautiful on top of my media stand which houses my receiver. Now for the performance and sound. This definitely sounds quite satisfactory and much better than the last turntable I owned! I had taken the time to try most, if not all, possible output settings. My main planned setting is connecting it to my A/V receiver in 7.1 surround. With this I had 3 options from the turntable itself: Phono output, Line output, or USB. Using the Phono output, it has a lower signal and weaker volume but has a very nice full range and more balanced sound between bass and treble as it was utilizing the preamp on my receiver. From there I was able to use specific settings on my receiver to achieve whatever preset or equalization I wanted. The only drawback is that there is a small hum in my center speaker in this setting. Could be that I am just using a 14-gauge speaker wire as a ground, but it’s only noticeable if I literally have my ear right next to the speaker. Using the Line-in output, I got a clean signal with a slightly higher volume and utilizing the preamp built into the turntable. I’d have to say that the turntable preamp does a pretty nice job, but I noticed that it was very treble heavy compared to the phono level. It was still a satisfactory sound, but I preferred the fullness and balance of the phono output. The USB output utilizes my computer soundcard as essentially a Mic-in input. My computer is then output to my receiver. I’d say the sound quality is the equivalent of the Line-in except it had a slightly noticeable echo. This might be because the cartridge is picking up surrounding sounds/elements from anything near it and acting like a microphone. Overall, all outputs are very close in quality and I think it all depends on the receiver. Note that these 3 options do not utilize the volume knob on the top of the turntable whatsoever. That is solely for the final option, to hook the turntable up to the provided speakers. I’ll admit I had no real intention of ever using the speakers. However, I decided to give it a go. When I hooked these up, I was pretty amazed at the overall quality and volume of the output. It has a pretty respectable bass response as well, I think even slightly better than my receiver? It actually gets pretty loud, too, when I cranked up the dial. Needless to say, I was impressed with the sound quality. The sound is clear, it can fill up a sizeable room, and it gives me an added option of making this turntable somewhat portable within places in my house (or maybe even bring to a small party). The only thing that I ponder is that it was advertised as 36W power rating, but the speakers themselves say 18W power rating. Maybe I’m a noob, but is it just the combined power rating? Overall, I’d say this competes well with other turntables in this price range for everything it has to offer. You definitely get a high-quality sound from the 1byone that satisfies my listening pleasure! I will also say, taking some time to balance the tonearm really makes a difference. I have had virtually 0 skips on every record I’ve played on it (at the time of this writing, around 2 months of regular use and roughly close to 100 combinations of 33s and 45s), except for a few older records I own that were just scratched heavily or damaged in certain spots! Of note, the stylus cartridge they use is the Audio-Technica AT3600L, which I feel is a good-quality needle. It may help to research the specs for this stylus and also invest in a stylus scale (which are relatively inexpensive) if you want to balance the tonearm more specifically and put the least amount of wear on the stylus and your records. If you are looking to upgrade to a pleasurable listening experience or get into what may be considered “entry-level” audiophile without breaking the bank, then this is for you! I can’t speak for a pure audiophile, but I’d have to say I am very satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone in similar settings and circumstances. I purchased this excitedly as an upgrade to an old combo Victrola that we had when we first got into vinyl. It had great reviews so I was pretty confident in the purchase. The unboxing was great, the machine itself looked spectacular. I followed the instructions to the letter setting everything up and go to turn it on... And that's where it stopped being cool. The platter wouldn't move so some quick troubleshooting ensured me that all of the set up was done properly. So I looked at the LED indicator blinking red. The manual didn't list any symptom that might cause this. So after doing some internet research and some reddit troubleshooting I find that the red blinking LED is a signal that there is something wrong with the internals. Great... So now I wait on the "chat anytime" customer service and I've sent the regular email to probably no where. Learn from me. Save your money for something more reputable.

This turntable hi-fi stereo (36 watts) with bookshelf speakers does a simply fabulous job at playing vinyl, 33s or 45s. Plus it has Bluetooth connectivity so that you can play the mp3 music on your phone or tablet or livestream. I live in a senior community and twice a month present an interactive music appreciation program taking records from my collection. The 1 By One is easy to move on a cart and set-up, use and then take down. Putting the machine together is easy and the instructions are clear to follow. The tonearm comes already assembled with an excellent AudioTechnica cartridge that is matched with the speakers: the sound is extraordinary for their size. All you need to do is install the rubber band on the motor spindle and interior drive wheel (a new band can be ordered from the manufacturer when the original has stretched out); assemble the counterweight; balance the tonearm; dial in the tracking weight and hang the anti-skating counter-weight. I have only a few minor caveats. The hifi pre-amp and amp section have a computer that listens to the music. When the sound grows too soft (like with classical music) the unit has a tendency to shut off. This is remedied by playing the music louder. This idiosyncrasy should not be a problem for rock, hip-hop or jazz listeners. The speaker cables are of fine wire, color-coded with tinned ends. Those ends are liable to beak off, so it is a good idea to have a set of wire cutters handy for removing the outer insolation. Heavier speaker cable (16 or 18 gauge) can be substituted, but this is only necessary if you plan to relocate and reassemble the system (as I do every other Wednesday.) Besides Bluetooth the unit comes with a port for hooking up to a computer and has two RCA jack line level outputs for using the turntable separately with a large component system. The 1 By One fully satisfies all my needs. The more recent iteration of this set comes with auto-tone arm return, which would make life perfect. I regret nothing about my purchase of this marvelous machine and unequivocally recommend it to anyone looking for a cost-effective way to play their vinyl.

Normally I purchase turntables and components A la carte, meaning I look for items that I want to spend in specific price points for different components based on the quality I believe could best deliver value. My current turntable is a Stanton, and I’ve had very good results with that over the past few years minus a few cosmetic issues that have surfaced. Still, I found myself needing a second turntable for the game room and I was excited to try the 1byOne system. This is different because I’ve never had a turntable- in -the-box system. Beyond boxing experience was enjoyable. The speakers were packed on top, and components were in the second box underneath, carefully and thoughtfully packaged. One of the first things I noticed was that the speakers have rubber feet to help protect my wood shelving, and I was pleased to see the forethought that went into this. Set up was pretty easy with the exception of two things. The first one is adjusting the tonearm weight because the weight that’s supposed to adjust the tonearm had to be kind of pushed in on the track so that I could twist it and adjust it properly. I felt like I was forcing it on the back of the tonearm, and then having a back it out. It made it very difficult to have a starting point for adjustments. The second one was hanging the counter weight, which requires reading glasses and a very steady hand. I am in my late 40s so there was a little bit of a challenge, but an older person is going to want someone with a sharp eye at a steady hand for that step. I broke out a 12 inch single of Huey Lewis‘s power of love single, And was absolutely blown away by the clarity and depth of the trouble and the base. The mid range is also properly and pleasantly adjusted so that no adjustments could be made. This is a good thing because there’s no place to make those adjustments. But I felt like there was a really powerful processor somewhere in the electronics that boosted and clarify the audio sound. I also connected it to my Yamaha receiver which also provided a great audio experience. I have Sony speakers that I paid over $150 each for and these little reference speakers that came in the box kept up in pretty much every way, and could be comparable. For the sound, I overall read them at 9.5 out of 10. They are that good. I tried the Bluetooth feature and found that the audio amplification was not very good with it. It was very easy to connect, and did play the content through Bluetooth, I just felt that the audio was significantly quieter for Bluetooth and it was on the phone. And my Bluetooth phone was cranked all the way high with the volume, so I don’t believe it was that. There are two recommendations that I would like to make. The first one is that the speaker wires should be black, and only have the ends displaying the red and black options for the connections. I feel like I’m going to lose the adapter because I have no place on the record player to place it. Not really a big deal or worth losing any stars on, but it might be a thoughtful addition for future models. My old turntable also had a very small profile for the 110 outlet. This model has more of a larger brick style AC adapter and it would be nice if the transformer or whatever components that are necessary be in the middle of the plug rather than at the plug-in. I use one of the multi port bars for electricity, and I’m either going to have to reconfigure nearby devices, or buy a larger power bar. Overall, I’m still extremely pleased with the features and options available on this model. It fits nicely and is aesthetically beautiful and pleasing to the eye.
