Does it play FLAC (uncompressed audio files) files through the usb connection????

I just purchased this unit and I am not able to play FLAC files off of a USB drive plugged directly into the front of the unit.  If I'm reading the other information here correctly, I can only play these files from my desktop (Win 7) using the JRiver software.  Interestingly, I can play these files on my Marantz AVR (SR-6008) using the USB port on the front.  Anyone have suggestions for connecting this HD-DAC to my AVR - primarily to play CDs and FLAC files while listening with headphones?  Thx...

I own a marantz cd 6004 that allows me to plug my ipad into the usb on the front. it sounds and works great. will the dac from the hd-dac-1 be better

I have a CD6004 as well. I returned the Dac-1 because they both have that Marantz house sound (which is very good). If you don't need DSD or to plug into directly with your PC/MAC. Skip it.

The Marantz sounds more natural after some “burn-in” time. Give or take approximately 100 hours for the caps and circuitry to settle in. After that, select one of your better recorded albums and sit back with a glass of wine and listen for a while. Get lost in the music and the technology. You will find subtle nuances that you may have not heard before. Hi Res doesn’t just mean 20-20k ruler flat. TEAC has a nasty habit of leaving listeners with ear fatigue. Look it up. The Marantz uses discrete components chosen for their musicality. Take a listen. From Amazon you have 30 days. Plenty of time.
