I'm not interested to annoy or disrespect any other online shopping store.. but I ought to say that.. Amazon is the Best! A few days earlier I bought a book of Sociology from another online store but was a bit annoyed. But I'm seriously amazed n overwhelmed by Amazon's delivery n dealings! Great book and illustrative
Illustrative and good for a beginner in Sociology. If you want more depth then I suggest you should supplement it with Harlomos( blue book). I took it for my Sociology optional.

The book was delivered in a very good condition. The paper quality looks good. Fonts are readable. The book is of a very good quality. Dimensions: 20*27*4 cm I can't say anything yet about the content tho..

A good textbook but doesn't cover all the basics.
If you have "Haralambos & Holborn" textbook, then you can skip buying this one. Since these are actually the textbooks of British Sociology but it covers a minute portion of General Sociological thought.Like in Haralambos, the examples are only from the British Society.

The book is very good. But the shipping takes too long.
The book is good, it is a used book, but in a Very very good condition. I had the Arabic version before. It is a good book I strongly recommend it for anyone who is interesting in sociology. The only problem I had is with its shipping. I takes about a month to be arrived to my house :-(

社会学の入門書にどうぞ
現代の社会学を代表するギデンズによる入門書です。700ページちょっとある大著ですが、それほど英語も難しくなく、話題も豊富で楽しんで読むことができると思います。また、写真や図表なども豊富なのでそれを見るだけでも楽しいです。 第３版（私が読んだのは翻訳ですが）に比べかなり内容が変わり、今話題となっているジェンダーや環境問題、グローバル化、ITに関してはかなり充実しています。勿論、2001年に出たので特にITに関しては情報が古いというのは否めませんが。 また、旧版では扱われていなかった様々な理論も出てきます。たとえば、ベックの「リスク社会」やリッツァーの「マクドナルド化」、そしてギデンズの「構造化」等。こういった最新の理論を扱っている日本語の入門書はあまりないと思います。特にギデンズに関してはギデンズ自身が語るわけですから。 しかし、やはりギデンズがイギリス人であるために事例がイギリスをはじめとする欧米が中心です。そのため、日本とは状況が異なっていることもあり（家族や労働等）、ちょっと実感が湧きづらいかもしれません。
