Is this a "standard" ethernet/cat5 cable used to connect a computer to a router for example.....or is this a "crossover" ethernet/cat5 cable?

Yes, that will work. Please make sure both machines have Ethernet ports. In the event the new machine only has USB ports then we can use Wifi as the default method of connection or consider buying a Laplink USB cable. This is the only USB cable that works with the software. Consequently, you can use an Ethernet to USB adapter on the new machine if it does not have one. Make sure to turn off Wifi on the old machine and keep it active on the new machine. Please join us thru chat so we ca remotely assist you with the migration setup.

would the high speed cable for multiple use or only one use?

The high-speed cable can be used multiple times, but I have to tell you that the Laplink PCmover Migration software did NOT work - it was a waste of money. I had to take my old & new laptops to a computer guru and pay him $150 to move everything, including the programs I paid for.

can I use an ethernet to usb port adapter since my laptop doesnt have an ethernet port?
