Do you have to use the remote switch?

850nm ir flashlight comes with regular or remote tailcap switch,so if you don't want to use remote,then you could use regular tailcap switch.

can it be used with camcorders with IR to see further?

A8s ir flashlight mainly used for night vision scopes,if you lighting the product towards the items you want to check with camcorders,i think it can help to see further.But the light with one battery can't last a very long time.

Why did you perform your function test in the videos so sporadically? Is it a single mode or a multi-mode? Poor display of functionality.

I have been running this light on my 4k pro 5-20 for about a year, and have killed hogs at 600yard. Can see to about 800yards. It's a decent light. Get good rechargeable batteries.
