452-BCYT D6000 Universal Dock, Black, Single

I've purchased 15 or so of these in the past year to replace existing docks and have found them to be about as good as you can get for usbc docks that support 2+ monitors. Given we have all dells, a mix of inspirons, xps's, and latitudes, i've found these work equally well with all. I've tried cheaper sub $100 usbc docks like Wavlink and MediaGear but have not been consistent as this one. Typically with those docks you are going to have more problems with devices being recognized or monitor and peripherals that just stop working. The two issues i've found with these docks are DOA and need for occasional reboots. I've had 2-3 instances where the dock power plug needs to be removed and inserted again to reset the device and the ports - to solve monitor and peripheral issues. However, this is great compared to some of the other docks i've tried. And i've had to send back two or three of these that were dead on arrival. Then again it seems like any docks other docks have this issue to so just be aware. This is the best usb-c dock for dells of any type though if you want multiple screens.

I’ve been using the Dell D6000 universal dock for a multi-monitor home/office setup, and it’s been very reliable so far. Setup was straightforward—plug in, install the DisplayLink driver, and everything worked as expected. It handles dual monitors smoothly, along with keyboard, mouse, Ethernet, and other peripherals without random disconnects or lag. The dock stays cool, feels well-built, and hasn’t required any troubleshooting once configured. Switching between laptops is quick and easy, which is a big plus if you work across devices. A couple things to note: you do need the DisplayLink software (especially for macOS or non-Dell systems), and display performance depends on your laptop’s specs. That said, once set up correctly, it’s stable and dependable. Overall, this is a solid choice if you need a universal docking solution for a clean desk setup with multiple monitors. Not the cheapest option, but it does what it’s supposed to do and does it well.

As some other reviews have mentioned, make sure you properly install the drivers and follow the directions carefully if you plan on using this with a Mac. Otherwise, this dock has been working great for me. I usually only use it to connect 1 monitor to my MacBook, but I have been able to use all 3 additional monitors. Finally, if you have to use adapters to convert between cable types make sure you are using an ACTIVE adapter, otherwise it will not work. UPDATE: This review was originally written for OSX 10.14 (Mojave) and for the most part everything went smoothly. After upgrading to OSX 10.15.4 (Catalina) I ran into a few problems but still got everything to work. You can find the full instructions on their site but I'll summarize them here to hopefully save people some effort. 1. To get the Dock to work with Catalina you MUST upgrade to the latest device firmware. Unfortunately this can only be done from a Windows machine. Also pay close attention to the upgrade instructions, if you do not close all applications on your computer before starting the upgrade it may cause the upgrade to hang. Additionally I read that trying to do the upgrade via USB C causes issues. If your upgrade hangs, you can right click on the application icon and click close, this will start a rollback. Do not disconnect the power or USB until prompted to do so. 2. When installing the driver on your mac you must allow the system extension. This can be done through "Security & Privacy" and must be done within 30 minutes of attempting the install. See their site for more details. If you do not approve it within 30 minutes you can try installing it again to get the prompt again. To check if the extension has been denied you can check "About This Mac > System Report" and then check under "Software > Disabled Software" to make sure that the extension is not blocked. Additionally, under "Software > Extensions" you can scroll down until you see "DisplayLinkDriver" and verify that it says "Yes" under the "Loaded" column. 3. The last step is to allow the driver to record your screen in "Security & Privacy" settings. Once again it's important to read all the instructions carefully otherwise you can run into issues like flickering screens, black screens, or just being unable to detect your monitors. UPDATE 11/3/2018: So it has been a few weeks with the dock now, and it hasn't given me any trouble. I turn on the laptop, both of my 4K monitors are working fine along with the peripherals. ======================================================================= I have been a tech enthusiast for the last decade and my first week with this docking station was frustrating. My rig is an Alienware 17 R3, Win10 64 bit, 1TB NVMe M.2 2280 SSD for boot and applicaitons, 1TB SSD for storage, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 970m GPU, and i7 6700HQ CPU. The purpose of purchasing this specific docking station was for the horizontal design, USB C capability, and its 3 x 4K port connectivity. I am only utilizing 2 of the ports (HDMI and displayport) and my set up keeps switching from 4K resolution to 2048 x 1152 or 1920 x 1080. I thought this would be a simple driver issue so I uninstalled the displaylink driver I already had from my previous docking station and updated it to the most recent version. Still didn't fix the issue. So I tried a few different setups...one worked out fine with me by using the USB C portion instead of the USB 3.0 adapter alongside a Displayport to HDMI cable and HDMI to HDMI cable, both supporting 4K resolution. I haven't had any issues for the second week now and I will update. PROS +small, horizontal design +affordable (cheaper than the typical 200 dollar docking stations with USB C) +optional USB 3.0 or USB C connectivity +4 USB 3.0 ports, 2 DisplayPort, and 1 HDMI CONS -illogical design between the docking station and the computer -nonremovable USB C cable... -troublesome set up

I have two laptops, personal Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th Gen (Thunderbolt 3) and from work Dell Latitude 3490 (USB-C 3) and I was looking for a dock that drives both laptops with 2x QHD displays (HP Ellitedisplay 240q). Before trying the Dell D6000, I tried CalDigit TS3+ and Cable Matters USB-C docks and non of them drove my dell, but worked with my Lenovo. And finally I got the dell D6000 that detected both laptops like a champ and drives my displays at their highest resolution. I mounted it on the back of my display so no cable is visible on my desk, just a USB-C cable that charges my laptop and provide connectivity to my mouse, keyboard, webcam and boss speakers. If I want to mention disadvantage of dell D6000 they would be lack of ports (comparing to the CalDigit): - Lack of fiber audio port for my Boss speaker, I should use USB connection instead (a little lower quality) - Lack of number of USB-A ports. D6000 offers only 4 USB-A ports which are already utilized. - Lack of SD Card slot - I have to purchase a separate USB-C to SD Card connector and attach it to D6000. However, as long as it worked for me and addressed almost my requirements (with some workarounds), I would be happy to give it a 5 star considering my bad experience with CalDigit and Cable Matters. I have not done speed test yet though that is my real concern anyway. So I give it a pass. NOTE: The CalGigit dock is a Thuderbolt 3 dock and it is not supposed to work my dell Latitude 3490 by design (my mistake to buy it in first place). So if you have laptops that support TB3, the CalDigit might be a better option considering its variety and number of ports. However it comes with a high price $304. NOTE: The Cable Connect dock, on the other hand was a USB-C dock that did not work with my dell latitude USB-C port which was disappointing. Thanks to Amazon Prime, I did not have to worry about return.

I wanted to love this dock, but it has been a nightmare for my workflow. If you value your work and your computer’s sanity, DO NOT BUY THIS. The most infuriating issue is how it handles "Sleep Mode." Every single time I walk away from my desk and my laptop tries to go to sleep, the dock starts making a bizarre, mechanical CLICKING NOISE like a relay is failing inside. When I come back, my computer is completely crashed. I have to hard-reboot every time, and of course, Chrome has "crushed" and all my open apps and unsaved work has to be resorted. I spent hours updating everything—DisplayLink drivers, official Dell firmware, Windows power settings—and nothing fixes it. It’s clearly a hardware design flaw with how this dock negotiates power. For a "Universal Dock," it’s universally terrible at its one job: staying connected. I’m also using high-quality DisplayPort to HDMI cables, and it doesn't matter. The dock just can't handle a simple power transition without taking the whole OS down with it. Save yourself the headache and the lost data—look elsewhere.

So when I initially received this, the display ports were not working and only the HDMI ports would work for the two monitors. Basically how I had to setup my two monitors (and laptop was the HDMI into the monitor and plugged into the one HDMI port in the back of the dock. For the second monitor, the HDMI cord went into the back of the monitor port and I had to plug it in directly to the laptop. This was an annoying setup. So finally, after reading a few reviews I saw that this could be due to an outdated driver download that was needed. So I downloaded the latest and greatest drivers and then unplugged all of the HDMI cords. Ditched the HDMI cords and used the display port cords, which all plugged into the monitors and into the dock!!! SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update on 12/14/2020: It's been a solid product and with the money. I've been getting the use out of it daily and it's been a seamless experience. Update on 9/4/2019: It's still going strong and haven't had any issues connecting. Solid dock! Also works with my Galaxy Note 9 - Samsung DoX interface provide windows desktop kind of experience. Keyboard and mouse work seamlessly as well. Adding couple pictures. Original Review: Bit expensive but love the fact that you just have to plug a single USB-C or USB 3 cable (comes attached with the dock; USB-C converts to USB 3) and you've got everything working smoothly. I attach USB-C cable from dock my 13.3" laptop to get all of the below benefits seamlessly... 1. Two 2K monitors at 60Hz (had two 4K monitors attached earlier but wanted to upgrade to 2K, trust me - for a computer screen 2K feels upgrade as it's so easy on eyes) along with laptop screen. 2. Worked keyboard & mouse 3. Headphone 4. It automatically charges laptop back with the same cable (at 90W Dell power supply) 5. External drive (flash drive) I'm still left with few USB ports on the dock to use for other things. There's no compromise on speed with anything and there's no conflict. It's just fantastic!!! My desk is well organized with just a SINGLE cable!!!

En casa tengo dos portátiles, uno para uso personal (Lenovo Yoga 920) y otro para el trabajo (Thinkpad 470P). Tengo dos monitores FHD 24" y uno central QHD 27" y mi anterior docking Wavlink no me daba más que problemas con lo USB y además solo soportaba 2 monitores y no en QHD. Con este docking se acabaron los problemas, fue conectarlo y todo funcionó a la primera. El Thinkpad puede con los tres monitores en su máxima resolución y además se carga por la conexión al dock. El Yoga no carga (es problema del Yoga) y solo puede con dos monitores. El dispositivo es discreto por su color y diseño. Por ponerle una pega, me hubiera gustado algún puerto USB más.

Il marchio Dell risponde perfettamente alle aspettative. 4 porte USB 3.1 sono un po poco, con la USB-C in aggiunta a me bastano. Il mio deve funzionare con il portatile e due monitor. Ho provato anche il vecchio portatile di 4 anni, anche con quello funziona con la porta USB 3.1 In quel caso pero non carica la batteria.

Tudo funcionando perfeitamente e para quem tem um setup grande é mais do que necessário.

The only thing that I think isn't supposed to work is using a usb-c connection to a display, you have to use the other ports, I use HDMI and it's excellent. I now only need to plug a single Usb-C cable into my laptop, which I keep on a Roost Laptop Stand (get one, you'll love it) next to a 4K screen. Perfect Home office setup! The DisplayLink app installed pretty easily, works as intended. As for the seller, it was a good price, fast shipping and good service. (I requested a tax invoice, they were fast to respond)
