Great product for ceramic BBQ restoration!
I ordered this cement for a Kamado, ceramic Chinese BBQ oven, that I was restoring as I found some blog posts recommending refractory cement as the best way to repair broken or cracked pieces. If you are familiar with these types of ovens (Kamado, Big Green Egg, Kamado Joe) then you know there are two internal ceramic parts that create the firebox. These parts on the BBQ I was given were each broken into about 20 pieces and I wasn't sure if I could even rebuild the puzzle. After some thorough prep work and getting the puzzle pieces organized I began the rebuild and "gluing" the parts together with the cement. The assembly went great and the final product, while maybe not pretty, is extremely strong and has so far held up to one cooking up to 400 degrees for several hours. I am curious to see how the product holds up over time with all the heating and cooling but so far am very impressed. I would certainly recommend this product for this type of repair and hope that it keeps the parts together over time. One important note for this cement is the recommended curing process which is basically a slow stepping increase in heat to allow the product to properly cure. I assume this step is to make sure all moisture in the ceramic, from the cleaning and the cement itself, is driven out and doesn't make the repair fail from steam. I couldn't figure out a good way to do this so instead I placed the completed parts in full sun for many weeks assuming that this would get them nice and dry - so far no issues.

It works! Filled in beginning crack and holding up
I put on a light coat. Then I had three or four small fires before a large fire. It’s holding up beautifully. I do see a little bit of indentation when the crack was, so I might try a second coat. My coat was pretty thin, though I did press the mortar in the crack itself. I am so thankful for this option that is clearly helping deter a beginning crack from widening or deepening. Use it at first onset of crack in fireplace panels.

It works, sets rock hard.
Used this to remortar our 64 yr old fire place. It is peanut butter consistancy. Viscous and hard to keep sharp lines with. Cures by having a fire. Too hot too fast causes bubbling. Just did a yr 2 touch up on other spots. Solid product.

Easy to use, premixed
This was premixed so it was very easy to work with a putty knife. Spread easily and filled cracks in my firebox. No mess due to not having to mix with water. Will paint with rutland 1400deg black paint

Product works great, shipping it the way they did, was not smart.
Product works great. Spreads smooth. Dries pretty quickly. The 3 star rating was because of how it was shipped. As you can see in the pictures, "The Grippers" worked-ish. They worked where they were put on (should have used 4/5 of them) but the cement got on everything, including my spark plugs! Just happy they triple packed those and no cement got on them. The box was beat up and very flimsy by the time it got to me. Whatever packing tape was used definitely did its job by keeping everything in. Next time I may just get this at the local HD/Lowes. Very lucky it made it to me in one piece.

Better than expected
The fire panels in my fireplace were broken. I didn't realize when I bought it as they stuffed the fireplace full of wood for aesthetic. Anyway you're not supposed to use this for big cracks or gaps. Bit I used it to bind two pieces bag together and fill a large missing section. It held up all winter and saved me hundreds in replacement cost. I'd say if it lasts through a winter burning wood nearly 24/7 for four months it's worth it. Once wood was burned a few times the whole thing was black and you couldn't tell there was patching done to the panels. Works fine and lasted all winter.

Worth the money
Easy to apply and filled 1/2" crack in floor of fireplace. Follow instructions for curing and it dries rock hard. Our chimney guy recommended this and it works like a champ.

Buy the best for top results
The fire bricks in my wood furnace were cracked and loose and on the border of crumbling (see pic); so instead of hiring a contractor and having to wait a long time and pay a lot, I decided to tackle this on my own. I followed the instructions exactly and the results were fantastic. All of the firebricks are now secure and the cement cured properly. Just follow the instructions and don’t let the fire get too hot too fast. I used a silicone spatula to apply the cement as that gave me a lot of flexibility to work between the ridges and cracks of the firebricks. I had plenty of product left over, even with two applications.

This is hands down the best product in it’s category

Best compound to fix cracks in your fireplace
If you are trying to fix cracks in your fireplace this will work, that being said it's not super user friendly, after you apply it you have to slowly, and I mean slowly heat it up so it doesn't bubble to cure the compound. But that being said it's the inside of a fireplace it just needs to be functional not an art piece. It will work.

looks like it will be great for my foundry build
Very thick cement, looks like it will be great for my foundry build. Container has about 3 liters of cement in it.
