I have searched high and low for the answer to your question, and cannot find anything that says how it dries. I found this info on the Plaid site: STIFFY Not to be confused with a decoupage medium, Mod Podge Stiffy is a fabric stiffener that can transform limp fabrics, ribbons, lace, doilies and needlework into stiffened shapes drying to a matte finish . Crocheted doilies and lace can easily become decorator bowls and stiffened ribbon can add a unique border trim to any project! It has been my experience with ModPodge that it dries clear. HELPFUL HOW-TO: • Pour a small amount of Stiffy into a bowl or container . Saturate crocheted doily or fabric with Stiffy . • Squeeze, removing excess Stiffy . Pour remaining Stiffy back into jar . • Drape saturated doily over prepared form and allow to dry . • TIP: To prepare form, cover an inverted bowl with non-cling plastic wrap; place the inverted bowl over a jar or container elevating it to desired height . • TIP: Be sure to protect work surface with additional sheets of plastic wrap as excess Stiffy will drip from the saturated doily once placed on the prepared form . • Once dry, remove doily from form and discard plastic wrap . • TIP: If desired, embellish the stiffened doily by weaving ribbon through the crocheted doily openings . • TIP: Mod Podge Stiffy can be tinted with acrylic paint before stiffening doilies . Help please! Does this dry clear? The seller doesn't seem to know?!?! Has anyone used it?

This product does not dry clear, it turns yellow upon drying.

Can i use this on polyester??

Yes. It will stiffen most fabrics.

Can it stiffen a native handmade hat?

I'm not sure what your hat is made of, but this product worked on Merino wool felt. It left a slight white residue, but that can be covered with thinned fabric paint.

This stuff really works on straw!

Finally found a fabric stiffener that actually worked as I had hoped! I had a straw hat that had got soaked in rain and lost its "bearings" and became too floppy for my taste. The hat was otherwise in good condition, so I wanted to try to rescue it before spending money on a new one. While the hat is not as good as new after the stiffening treatment, it is as close to original as can be after about 10 years... I was pleased that the product didn't leave a shiny coating on the straw; it stiffens unobtrusively.

Does what it says

I make needle felted animals/birds and have started using this to stiffen wings, tails and beaks etc. it is super easy to use and dries quickly, with no visible residue and works a treat! Mod podge are a good quality brand with different products for different uses and this will now join my current ranks of mod podge products!
