If you are familiar with the Magna-Tiles that are the sensation in the preschool set, this is a really good substitute. Don't get me wrong...Magna Tiles are GREAT - but they are so very expensive. And as we all know, kids are very unpredictable. We bought this set because of the wheels. My children went crazy for them, and love to build trains and trucks! A tiny bit smaller than Magna-tiles, but they are compatible. They do use a slightly weaker magnet and feel a little less sturdy, but they are much more reasonably priced and my children enjoy the variety. We will be purchasing more in the near future!

I compared the magnet strength of these Playmags, some Magrific tiles, and MagnaTiles. All three brands had magnets with comparable strength. Since some of the older reviews complain about the lack of magnet strength of this set, I believe the manufacturer has successfully addressed the problem. You can confidently buy this train set without worrying about weak magnets. Although a child could use this set independently without any other magnet tiles, I think this set is more enjoyable if the child has other magnet tiles. We use squares and window tiles from other sets when building our train--particularly the locomotive. The best part of this set is the very sturdy train car bases The wheels move freely, and they appear to be very durable. Not that I recommend using these as roller skates, but I do think if a creative child did stand on the train bases, they would not break.

My kids love the Playmags. They have so much fun playing with them. I love to play with them too and they are easy to clean up. We had 3 of the 4 cars connectors break. I contacted customer service via email. I found out that these were an old version and they were sending out replacement of new design right away and they replacing all 4. I also have another set of Playmags that came with the new design cars and it is a much sturdier design.

My 7 year old grandson loved it. He built all sorts of things on top of the train cars. Excellent products.

Goes perfectly with out other magnatiles

We bought this as an addition to our Magna-tiles collection. It has been a huge hit and is played with constantly. Four stars because some of the magnets of the rails seem to be placed wrong (e.g. two pieces will repel no matter how you orient them). But that has not deterred my kids, and we have a perma-train in our living room now. Every night I ask them to put it away, but they claim that they are still playing with it. And they are.

I purchased these and a set of the Playmags clear color magnetic tiles 100 piece set for my granddaughters ages 3 & 6. They immediately began playing and using them creatively to build vehicles and structures. The 3 year old even put two rectangles together and began making up stories as though she was reading them from a book. I recommend these for creative, construction toys and their creative possibilities. Price is a secondary reason to buy these rather than the competitive products.

The magnets from the train track are not strong at all

Fantástico juego. Compramos el año pasado playmags por primera vez, una caja con cuadrados, triángulos, etc., y este año les hemos completado con el tren. Desarrollan imaginación en la construcción y se entretienen muchísimo. Continuaremos con más formas seguro.

Für jeden kleinen Auto- und Zugliebhaber ein super Spielzeug. Die Magnete halten toll und sind sehr schön verarbeitet. Mein Sohn mit 2,5 Jahren liebt die Anhänger und hat das Prinzip des Magnetismus sofort verstanden und baut supertolle Sachen mit den Playmags. Sehr empfehlenswert!

JUST AMAZING: This is my 3 year old daughter's and my 8 year old son favourite toy. It is 100% compatible with Magna Tiles (which are very similar -- we can't tell the difference -- but more expensive I also think this is a truly gender neutral toy. My son loves building skyscrapers, farms, hospitals and my daughter enjoys building doll houses for her little dolls, schools, etc. - and putting her little animals and dolls in them -- and now my son has started to use the magnetic blocks to make a table and four chairs. I WOULD RECOMMEND THESE FOR THE BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT
