I couldn't be more pleased (and emotional) with this purchase of the 2 shadow boxes. I lost my close friend JT the morning after Christmas from an aortic valve blockage that tied into sleep apnea. He was an amazing soul & touched the lives of hundreds in our community - 140+ people in attendance at the funeral, 50+ standing outside in the rain wrapped around the building into the parking lot waiting to come inside. A shadow box to hang in my home was the least I could do. I made this one for my honey, best friends of 15 years. I'm making 5 more of these for myself, his girlfriend, & a small group of friends & I'm definitely going to use this exact product. This box is PERFECT. It is not super cheap and plasticky feeling, it's a good solid material. It took me less than 30 minutes to put it together from the time I opened the package until the time I put in the back of the frame & shut it. Good solid back piece with tight closures. The backboard is solid that you put the pins through. And the pins that came with it are extremely sturdy! Didn't even bend or break off at the point when I pressed it down too hard. If I could give him more than five stars I would - quality, price, delivery time, the product itself. Will be ordering tonight!

These shadow boxes are an excellent value! I use them to make travel shadow boxes of our journeys. They are deep enough to hold various items such as rocks, spoons, shells, etc (as you can see in the photo). However, they ship in just the box the two are sold in with no outside wrapping or protection. As a result, the last one that arrived came damaged. I did a replacement for the first set that came as one of the boxes had clearly been partially crushed in shipping. I made my Belize box out of the one that was fine and when the new set came, one of those had also been damaged in the exact same manner as the first order. So in the end I did get 1 non-damaged box out of each set and returned both damaged ones together. Which made the most sense. But I can see how it may be frustrating if you are on a time limit with your crafting! The ability to push pins in to hold certain items is great, though the backing is thin, so there isn't much grip for any larger items. They will have to be glued in. Note that they do not have glass. It's that plastic stuff that looks like glass. I do not mind this as it looks nice and does not have glare.

After hot gluing my pottery to the shadow box, I realized that this is not glass. It is plastic. Ugh I was pretty upset. Then I don't know what I did but I must of smudged something on the plastic and now there is streaks and marks all over the plastic material window. It will not come off. I'm pretty upset but can't really return now. I wish I spent a little more money for glass instead and researched what I was buying because you get what you pay for.
