Great value for money.
brilliant! designed as a conversion from 1 to 3 sockets, but also has punchout holes in the corners for mounting direct to the wall if using as a spur to your ring circuit. I added three of these to a bedroom, one either side of the bed and one a little further towards the main socket. Started with furthest away, run a cable out through the knock out hole on the side and connected to the next, joined this to the next and then to mains ring circuit. I've seen comments about difficulty with the screws on the connectors, but this applies to all electrical sockets, if you undo it too much it will fall out. take your time, undo just enough and see if the wire goes in, if not just loosen a bit more until it goes in snugly. Its a sturdy bit of kit, brittle? yes, but most socket boxes are, if your not careful, when breaking out the ports for the cables. All in all, i am delighted with these items, easy to put together and work well, very happy to recommend, and will buy again.

Hard to fit, but seems good (provisionally).
I managed to fit this but only just! It would be easy to fit if starting from scratch but I was replacing an old single gang 13A socket. The existing ring main wiring was almost too short and buried in plaster. I was also handicapped because there was a huge kitchen cupboard 5" above the socket, ideal for banging one's head against. These two facts made it very hard to install. I almost gave up but had a brainwave. I had a dental mirror with a built-in light which enabled me to see if the wires were properly inserted into the terminals and locate the terminal screws. I own a really good electrical screwdriver which is normally ideal for tightening the terminals but not this time. It kept clashing with the pesky cupboard mentioned above. I had to use a shorter screwdriver whose blade was a bit thin but just about did the job. The design of the socket would be better if it gave several screw positions for each of the three mains lines (L,N,E). This would help overcome the 'wire too short' problem. This would put the price up a bit but I'd happily pay the extra to avoid the struggle that I've just gone through. Forgetting the fitting difficulty, it does seem to be a good 3 gang socket. I say this provisionally though because I have not used it in earnest yet. I do a lot of brewing were I use a lot of power for hours on end. If it's a poor socket, it will get damn hot. If possible, I'll update the review when I've learnt more.

For converting existing single-gang to three gang
I've bought two of "these" before however this one is slightly different in that it is designed/intended to convert an existing single gang to a three gang. I was still able to use it as I'd intended (wall mounted switched three gang extension lead effectively) however the plastic is incredibly thin and brittle. The faceplate screws into brass threads embedded particularly thin posts and one of them broke with around 5mm of thread still to go. Managed to glue and strengthen the post sufficiently to secure the faceplate but definitely not on par with the previous two.

Poor quality check
Arrived smashed, box shows area where it has had an impact on the box and the socket itself was smashed - item returned.

Easiest way to change a single gang socket to a 3G socket.
Moved into a house, which due to its age had loads of single gang mains sockets throughout. As an alternative to the mess of chasing out walls to change them to double sockets, this product comes up trumps. Protrudes from the wall just like a standard surface mounted box. Secured to the wall by using the socket mounting screws from the old SG box. If your existing cable is too short, simply extend a bit with snap-fit connectors - there's loads of space to push them out of the way inside the old pattress box. Electrically, it's a bit like adding a spur to an existing socket and it's fused for 13A. However, you can extend the ring completely (or connect it if your wires are long enough) by using 'double' wires, i.e. extend the ring by using 4 way snap-fit connectors and connect the whole lot into the socket. Excellent alternative to messing about (and the mess) of completely changing out a 1G socket to a 2G or 3G.
