Will this work as an additive for washer fluid (to prevent from freezing??)

That is what I am using it for. I mix16oz of methanol to 112oz of water and washer fluid concentrate. that will protect down to 10 degrees. 25oz to 103oz protects to 0 degrees.

Is this the highest purity methanol available? info on web is unclear.

No. You can spend as much as you want and get lab grade reagents Methanol which is ultra pure but unless you’re doing research 🧐 it’s not worth it IMHO

how much should be used in winter months per gallon of wiper fluid?

Search “methanol concentration vs freezing point” and match it to whatever the lowest temp you reasonably expect for your region. Then c1*v1=c2*v2 where c is concentration, and v is volume. 1 is your initial values and 2 is final outcome values to figure out how much to add in.
