It was first time we'd built one of these kits. Had a fun time doing so. The instructions were are times a little difficult to follow, but we figured it out. This has LED lighting which goes bright with a touch, but remains dimly lit otherwise. I wish there was a complete shut off button so not to use up the batteries. Looking into buying another built kit.

I finally finished this and it's so cute. It was a challenge but very fun to put together!

This was my first Minicity book nook. I really liked the design and the intricate details but I encountered some issues along the way. * The instructions are unclear in many places, and sometimes the English does not match the Chinese (for example, the part numbers are different in English than they are in Chinese). Also, the English is just extremely unclear and poorly translated in several places. I ended up using Google translate a couple of times so I could read the Chinese instead of the English text. * The diagrams in the instruction book are quite hard to make out at times - the use of red lines over the photographs of the components is often lost. * The instructions for how to install the light strips are vague and don’t really tell you what to do with them. I tried glueing them in, but the glue wouldn’t stick so I had to use tape in the end. Also the light strips are extremely delicate and in my efforts to insert another piece (H12) I ended up disconnecting a contact so now I only have one working light strip. It would have been better if the light strips weren’t wired in but could have a connector to the rest of the wires. * There are five different book sizes (A through E); I was extremely careful to follow instructions but found I ran short of some book types and had an excess of others I couldn’t use. * The kit comes with some basic tools such as a tweezer, small hammer and glue. But the glue provided is no where sufficient for what's needed. * You really need to glue everything even if the instructions don’t say to do so! I found many pieces easily became disconnected so ended up just putting glue everywhere. And a couple of times some pieces that had narrow parts did break. * The fit of the pieces is sometimes not very good - trying to fit the Part 3 to the rest of the kit was quite challenging and required a lot of brute force. To make it work I had to file down some of the balcony edges to make it fit and when I finally did get it in, some of the balcony railings came loose and it was very fiddly to get them back in (again if the instructions had told me to glue them in it wouldn’t have happened). * The lights are supposed to be activated through a touchpad that is glued to the ceiling of the nook. Except it didn't work, so in the end I had to dismantle the roof and have the touchpad and wire dangling out of the back of the nook! I bought this kit as an experiment to see if I wanted to buy further Minicity kits. I enjoyed the challenge of assembling the kit, but at times it was very frustrating. Based on this I would probably stick to other brands even though I like the Minicity designs.

I had such a fun time putting this together (the books sucked a little but that’s just because I can’t put a sticker on straight)

I have assembled 10+ book nooks. This is by far my least favorite. Instructions were wrong in numerous pages (despite the “corrections” that came along with the booklet); almost 50% of the pieces were mismatched when it came to fitting pieces together; faulty wiring on the light pack (specifically the light strips); and the metal rod was by far too short to properly align the staircase from the floor to the ceiling. I’m at a point where I’m going to have to throw out the product because of numerous broken pieces from attempting to assemble. Very disappointed.
