Not the hit I expected
This one is just ehh for me. It’s funny because I thought my 1 and 3 year old would love this - Dora + toy phone = magic but it just wasn’t the case. They reach for other toy phones way more and this just doesn’t really get played with except as the “backup” phone 🤷🏼♀️ not bad but just not a hit for our house.

Cute, very interactive, and well-priced
This is a very easy to use and fun toy for little ones to play around with. While I don't love the idea of pushing a cell phone-based toy, there's no way around their almost innate interest in phones nowadays. This runs on two AA batteries, so simple enough to source and replace inexpensively. It has a ton of features which almost make it too overwhelming for my little one. Almost like a choose-your-own adventure with too many different paths to go down. There are some small games that can be played on the screen, fake phone calls, some Spanish language education. It's also small enough that it doesn't take up space and isn't bulky like so many other of the kids' toys we have cluttering up our home. Its size also makes it easy to bring along for car rides or trips to the grandparents'.

Fun for pretend play, some room to grow into
I got the VTech Dora Adventure Calls phone for my 3.5-year-old, and it’s been a hit mostly for the lights, music, and pressing buttons. She loves that Dora “talks back.” It’s definitely more engaging than the super basic toddler phones, and I appreciate that it’s not just noisy, it actually sneaks in some learning like shapes, counting, and simple memory games. That said, most of the mini-games are a bit too tricky for her to fully understand without help. Stuff like copying number sequences or identifying patterns is more in the 4+ range, so she kind of mashes buttons until something makes noise. But she still enjoys it and I think it’ll grow with her over the next year. Volume is on the low side (which we actually prefer), but it might be hard to hear if there’s background noise. The phone itself feels sturdy and has held up fine to drops so far. Overall, it’s a solid pretend play toy with some decent educational bits baked in, just know younger kids might not “get” all of it right away.

My Niece’s New Favourite Toy
I ordered the VTech Dora Adventure Calls Learning Phone for my 4-year-old niece, and she absolutely adores it! The bright colours and fun Dora phrases make it instantly engaging, and it keeps her happily chatting and exploring for ages. It’s the perfect mix of play and learning—she gets to pretend she’s going on adventures with Dora while picking up new words and sounds. The buttons are easy for little hands to press, and the volume is parent-friendly (not too loud!). It’s quickly become one of her favourite toys—she takes it everywhere. A fantastic choice for any little Dora fan!

Cute phone with many activities
This phone looks great and my (too young) daughter is very interested in it. I ordered this so that she would have something to hold when her older brother is playing with his ‘phone’. Although she is too young to play the games, she likes the sounds and lights and it is easy for her to carry around. Build quality is very good – the phone is chunky and seems resistant to damage. There are psudo-learning games on the phone (e.g. count number of gifts displayed, press numbers in order they were played) which will be engaging to older kids. The display is small but well-used for games and other interactions. A backlight (which can be turned off) allows for use in lower-light situations. I really like that this phone will be usable for a longer time than more basic toys that our son had.
