I purchesed it since it was a time of both promotion and geographic movement after the engagement in corporate strategy role for three years. It is useful and helpful for all those who are to be assigned in a new role to look over the comprehensive tips which is worth trying from preentry before official onboarding. The STARTS portfolio, abbreviated of start-up, turnaround, accelerated growth, realignment, and sustaining growth, introduced in an early chapter and referred for grouping the argument at each later chapter over this book, enabled to gain the understanding of each topic. Personaly, chapter 9 "Manage Yourself", which advises to deal with personal and life issues with family such as a relocation caused by your promotion, should be taken into account more carefully when facing promotion/onboarding.

The book is well structured with many actionable points. Maybe it is more targeted at senior and upper management, nonetheless, many lessons can be learned for middle managers on how to help their boss to achieve their respective targets and play a pivotal role in it.

This is a great resource with tremendous insight for starting at a new position. Some of the content isn't applicable to a church situation, but much of it is. It is well laid out with clear questions and practical steps. I'd highly recommend it.
