Art Of Ponyo

A gem! Amazing print, came in very good packaging, and the overall feel is premium and lovely! Must have for a Ghibli fan, the hard cover is great as well.

If you follow Studio Ghibli, Anime or art on similar lines, this book hold good value and is well curated.

I hadn't purchased a Ghibli art book in the past, so I was unsure what to expect with the Art of Ponyo. Book material and print quality is superb. Sturdy pages with top notch printing. The contents are equally as good. A mix of concept art, story boards, sketches, final images from the film, production notes, and interviews, there's a lot great stuff here. Having already read some large chunks of this surprisingly hefty book, I'm loving the insight into the artistic process. Would absolutely recommend to any Ghibli fan, artist, or animation lover. Great coffee table book too.

The first 10 pages were stuck together. I bought it as a gift for my wife, and by the time I noticed the defect I was outside of the return window.

Ich denke, ich brauche nicht viel über das Artbook erzählen. Das Buch ist in einem Softcover gebunden und hat somit ordentlich Standfestigkeit im Regal. Das Buch beinhaltet sämtliche Illustrationen rund um den Film und dessen Entstehungsgeschichte, Interviews mit den am Film beteiligten Leuten. Leider sind manche Bilder über zwei Seiten gedruckt, was natürlich schlecht ist, weil man zum Betrachten das gesamte Buch "plattdrücken" müsste. Am Ende des Buches ist nochmal ein Voice-Over-Script abgedruckt; ein nettes Zusatzfeature. Besonders die vielen im Film verwendeten Hintergründe sind ausführlich gezeigt, sowie die Zeichentechniken erklärt. Einziger Kritikpunkt wäre das Softcover: Das Buch steht nicht von allein und muss sich wo anlehnen... :( Das Papier fühlt sich gut an, die Farben kräftig und die (englischen) Zusatztexte zu einzelnen Bildern sind in einfachem Englisch gehalten.
