Heat the milk

First of all this is a great yoghurt maker. Very easy to use. My first attempts at making the yoghurt were not good- too runny. The instructions are basic. So this is what I did to get perfect yoghurt.I used -1 litrre of Whole Pasteurised MilkBrought to boil. Allowed to cool to 43c-47c (I used a thermometer to check. I did purchase a glass yoghurt thermometer that has markers on it just for yoghurt temperature, but you could well already have a regular glass cooking one)I used a sachet of dried yoghurt culture (the ones with the healthy bacteria)STIR the sachet contents WELL (4 min) into the milk with a whisk making sure it is at 43c-47c before adding sachet.I also added some boiled hot water to each jar beforehand then tipped out water (this warms the jars)Filled jars with whisked mixture and allowed 8-10 hrs in yoghurt maker. Afterward jars go into the fridge and will continue to mature still for a couple of days.So a yoghurt maker is really an incubator you are maintaining that 43c temperature for 8-10 hours.Next batch you should be able to use one of the jars of yoghurt as a starter making sure it is at room temperature first.Real live yoghurt is extremely good for your gut. Regular supermarket ones have lots of sugar and additives.

Easy yoghurt maker

I've made 4 batches of yoghurt with this, and it couldn't be easier to use. My 4th batch has turned out to be the best. When checking the reviews before purchasing there were some reviews that didn't seem to have great success, so here are my observations:1 - it's what you use and what you do that is going to determine whether you make decent yoghurt.2 - After experimenting I can state that using UHT milk is most convenient (just add milk to a saucepan, add in Culture powder, stir and then pour into jars, put in yoghurt maker for 14 hours) but yoghurt will be very thin.3 - For best yoghurt, put more effort in ( use full fat milk, gently heat to 86° C in a saucepan and keep it at 86°C for 8 minutes, stirring it all the time. Take off the heat and wait for the temperature to fall to 43°C, then stir in the culture powder, pour into jars and put jars into yoghurt maker for 14 hours).4 - Make sure you sterilise anything used to make the yoghurt.5 - use a decent culture powder.

Works well but not sold on the small jars!

This machine works well for making yoghurt (which it’s supposed to do!) I love the glass jars (rather than a plastic insert you get in some of the bigger yoghurt makers!) plastic around food is not cool. Especially if you are going to the trouble of making yoghurt yourself.I had no problems like other reviewers saying that the yoghurt didn’t set - quite the opposite it set really well (pretty solid and perfect if you like a thick yoghurt!) just to be specific this is on the 10 hour timer and I live in the uk, it’s Autumn here so fairly average temp about 19C in our house.Product looks good, is simple and easy enough to clean but I’ve left off one star as I find the small pots quite annoying - I sterilise them before use in a UVC steriliser and I’d rather pop one glass jar in than 7 small ones and lids but that’s just my preference - I make bravo yoghurt for my daughters health (a special probiotic yoghurt for a chronic health condition!) she uses varying amounts every day (meaning a large glass jar makes more sense - I can just dose out however much I need!) and my daughter also refuses to eat the yogurt that was made in the yoghurt maker as it was so thick and lumpy (kids can be fussy!) so now I’m trying a large mason jar in a thermos set up and seeing if that makes more sense for us. Leaving bowls of yoghurt in the oven overnight just doesn’t work in our house - somebody always forgets it’s in there and turns the oven on! 🥴
