Days for dog snout 13.5” around but does that leave 1,5-3” for panting space?

I honestly prefer the metal to baskerville, and I put muzzles on dogs all day long. But measure three times, purchase once. Get the snout circumference at the widest point, then make sure you allow 1-2" of room for panting, get the snout length from just below eyes to tip of nose, and remember, these muzzles have adjustable straps that allow for slight adjustments up or down at sides of face. There is also a synching strap at neck and of course the strap in between eyes for safety. If secured right, the dog doesn't even pick at face...even the most sensitive dog leaves muzzle alone.

Question 2

Has anyone experienced chaffing or sores with this muzzle? Originally got the Baskerville and it was awful!

The part of the leather strap that sits on the nose, right at the corner of the eyes will rub the fur off if left on for long periods of time. My pup had to wear his for a couple while at the vets office and we noticed that part of the muzzle was irritating him. That was longest amount of time he has ever worn it tho, usually its only on for 30 minutes or so.

Question 4

How does the top strap fasten?  Mine came with a leather top strap with holes but I'm wondering if something is missing.

Hello, the top strap connects to the strap that goes around the back of the head/neck.
Sounds like your missing a piece.
I had to return mine because it was too short and was smashing my dog’s nose.
I bought the hard plastic one and it has a strap too and it has a buckle that connects it to the head/neck collar. I love it! I can give my dog treats while she has it on.
