IRWIN Marples Dovetail Pull Saw, Fine Woodworking (2011491)

Got this saw as I do a lot of dovetail and other types of joinery. It’s also great for sawing off dowels and other projecting pieces flush. Pretty aggressive teeth. Only thing to remember, (and in no way is it a fault with the saw), is that the blade is very flexible and in thicker or heavier types of wood, it’s harder to cut really straight. Blade could even kink if push overly hard. But I have a Japanese pull saw for that. Right tool for the right job. And I have made great use of this one. I’ve also had very good luck with Irwin tools of all types. I like this item.

I've bought a number of these saws over the years and I use it frequently. Very sharp. A very nice flush cut saw that cuts on the pull. But it's also very good for cutting other things like trim molding or cutting drywall. Teeth go very near to the end so it's very easy to start the hole when cutting out drywall for wall outlets. I can get very straight cuts with this saw. Blade is super thin so it's great for making cuts with a small curf. Cuts through quickly. Just a great saw to have in yourvtool box.

This is my second one of these b/c they function well, are a good size for small/medium projects, and are durable. Well worth the price IMO

These little saws are very handy to have in my tool bucket. This is the third one of these that I've purchased, and I'll probably buy another when I mess this one up...but... The kerf of the blade is very thin. Sometimes this is great for bending the blade into an awkward position for a flush cut, and sometimes it's a pain when the blade binds up and bends. Don't get me wrong, when the saw is new it cuts pretty well. I even used it in an emergency to cut a 2x4 once. It cuts pretty clean with minimal tear out in most material. But even with just intermittent use, these saws only last about 18 to 24 months on a jobsite. For me, the compact size and affordable price make this a must have in my tool kit for occasions when I don't want to go all the way out to my truck to get a corded saw for one cut.

11th house project. We have started to use trim that is plastic, some with mdf etc. power tools are overkill for 1” trim. The tooth gaps in our usual Hand saws ripped the plastic apart. This. Wow. I have used this knife multiple times a week for two months. The precision is incredible. The flexibility was nice too - allowed us to cut back foam spray along floors or walls to perfection. The flex can make cutting some things harder so note to work around that at times. It just keeps cutting. Not sure how long it takes for the blade to full but at this price it’s already paid for itself and will absolute get another when it does.

This saw is indispensable for small cuts in wood or PVC. Pretty to cut accurately. I bought this for my daughter after buying at least 2 for myself over the years. Blade lasts a long time but teeth are very hard & can’t be resharpened. Replacement is blade almost the same price as new saw.

I love this pull saw. I just wish I would have bought one of these years ago. The saw is razor sharp so I do have to be careful when using it. This saw cuts on the pull and not the push so it takes much less effort to cut wood and I have much better control. The cuts are very fine and clean with virtually no splintering. I also use this to cut PVC pipe and boards and it does a beautiful job, Since the blade can be removed it looks like you could buy replacements but Irwin does not sell replacement blades. The blade is the expensive part of the saw so they must figure people would not be that interested in saving a dollar buy buying just the blade. Plus stores are not too keen about stocking replacement parts for anything.

I needed to cut small and thin pieces of tropical hardwoods; I had tried the various hobby-saws but they choked on nearly all of the woods I use. This saw is *very* sharp; I still have to be careful and slow, because it *is* such a slender kerf that anything harder/denser than maple can break the saw's teeth, but that's a problem with pretty much any saw capable of cutting on a small/miniature scale. Just be aware that the blade *is* very flexible, so if you're trying to make straight flat cuts, be cautious about pushing too hard , since this *is* designed to be a pull-saw.

This is an excellent pull saw. The handle is made to replace the blade but separate blades are not available. The price is now over the top. A $7.00 saw costing $26.90 not really value. Irwin products such as this force one to buy Chinese.

My first saw is missing a couple of teeth so I decided to freshen up a bit. I’d say the design is 4/5 sort of thing, but the fact that it comes apart easily makes it easy to transport in a small kit. Perfect for those times when you need a small but sharp saw blade to get the job done, ie; trimming ABS pipe under the kitchen sink, notching wood etc.

Ya he comprado antes sierras en estilo japonés Irwin y puedo decir que son garantía y buena inversión, pero para ayudar a quien no conoce estás sierras deben de cortar despacio y sin aplicar mucha fuerza o las dañaran, si las usan correctamente durará mucho tiempo .

Super handy tool. I had one for ages, used it most days on the job until one day it disappeared. Finding the exact replacement at a great price was just what I needed.
