Love, Z

The book arrived in great condition. And the story is really cute. You follow a child robot trying to understand what love means. The robot journeys through asking people what love is. And it is answered in a beautiful way.

What is love? Robot Z has never heard of love until he finds a bottle washed up on shore with a note inside. The note is illegible except for the words “Love, Beatrice”. Those two words are enough to pique tenacious Z’s curiosity. He embarks on a journey to find Beatrice and learn about love. Along the way he meets many creatures who try to explain what love is. None of their explanations compute with the little robot…until he stumbles upon a quaint cottage. It is there that he learns the powerful meaning of those four simple letters. Given how much we adore Ms. Sima’s book, Not Quite Narwhal, it’s no surprise that we absolutely fell in love with this sweet robot. She brings Z to life with the most delightful illustrations. Her use of vibrant colors and darling details (ie…Z’s folded paper hat and his knapsack) make this one of the most lighthearted and cheerful reads of the year. This is one you won’t want to miss!

Great book

This book is beautiful! It’s the perfect read aloud for Valentine’s Day or anytime really. It was adorable and the perfect way to reflect on love and what it means to each of us. I can’t wait to share it with my class.

We needed a good robot book for an almost 3 year old. Most robot books are more about how they are made. I was happy to find this book. It is a very sweet story about love. It was perfect! Great illustrations too.

Jessie Sima does it again! A wonderful story about a little robot trying to understand what ‘love’ is. I don’t know who loves this story more - my kids or me! We love all the stories that Sima has written/illustrated. Her messages are sweet, inclusive, and identifiable; and her illustrations are cute, colorful, and original. We look forward to the next installment of whatever she comes up with! This new era of authors exhibiting growth mindset, exploring social norms, and creating a more welcoming environment for all is exciting!

Cute story about a difficult emotion to explain

This book is so cute! I got it to add to my boys’ library for the month of February. The illustrations are beautiful and colorful. The message it gives is so sweet and meaningful. My toddler really enjoyed reading it.

A children’s book blogger recommended this and I’m so happy I bought it. It’s a beautiful and engaging story with a message that resonates with adults and toddlers. My 3 year old loves it.

Beautiful little book, love how the robot discovers what live is to so many other people before he figures out what it is for him. Very cute
