Easy plug and play!!!
I was looking for a converter so I could control my Logitech Z-2300 speakers through my hdmi arc and after many purchases I finally found one that works. I just set the max volume on the Logitech controller and I can control the range through my tv remote. It works perfectly and it was plug and play. Super simple yet Iv had other products that would not work. I 100% recommend if youโre trying to control older speakers through an hdmi arc.

This works--I can now use my Samsung TV or Roku remote to control volume on external speakers
I have been looking for a solution to the lack of any ability to control volume on my separate Audioengine speakers attached to my Samsung TV. The TV does not have variable audio out, so the remote control does not work on the speakers attached through a 3.5mm cable. Nor does the volume control on my Roku remote, which theoretically links to the TV volume. Though it wasn't clear to me that this Adapter would do the job, it looked like it might and the cost was low enough to take a chance. I'm glad I did-it works! It connects through the ARC HDMI slot on my TV (and it only works if you have ARC HDMI available). It was very easy to set up: Attach the included ARC-capable HDMI cable to ARC HDMI slot on the back of the TV and then to the HDMI input on the device and an RCA cable to the outputs other side of the device and then to the RCA inputs on the powered speaker. It seems like this should work with a receiver/amplifier as well as with powered speakers, but I am no expert. This is not a perfect device: 1) The volume control only adjusts with a long up or down hold on the remote volume switch (the volume on the speaker itself must be set pretty high to accommodate this), so it is not as quickly responsive as the remote would be when controlling the TV's own internal speakers; and 2) the device occasionally slips out of the connection to the TV volume-i.e., it stops working; when this happens it is easy to reset by turning it off and on again with the easily accessible button on the device. I'd say this happens every couple of days, but it is easy to fix and the quite reasonable cost of the device makes up for these 2 drawbacks. Because it reasonably resolved a years-long problem at a low cost, I'm still giving it 5 stars and recommend it.

Works, but HDMI Cable Doesn't and Customer Service May Not Understand
I connected an older Logitech 2.1 speaker system to a Samsung Smart TV, QN60a and it works including the volume control via TV remote. The HDMI cable that comes with it doesn't work, not because it isn't HDMI over ethernet, which is what I needed to connect via the eARC port, but because it didn't work at all. I tested it on several different things, from my PC to PS5. I emailed customer service asking if they could send me another HDMI cable, preferably one with HDMI over ethernet. They were prompt and polite, but they sent me the entire package including the DAC all over again and removed the HDMI cable!

Worked for a few months then broke
It worked really great for the first few months. No audio lag, pristine quality, everything was great. Out of nowhere though, it just broke on me. Tried getting a new HDMI, aux cable, and micro usb cable but nothing worked. Save your money and get another product until they fix this terrible hardware issue.

Does what was built to do
This is a simple device that just works. On the input side it has HDMI-ARC, and a micro-USB connector for power. On the output side it has analog audio on a stereo pair of RCA jacks and on a 3.5mm headphone jack. That's all. Connect the TV HDMI-ARC. Connect to aux-in of your receiver or powered speakers. Enjoy controlling the TV sound volume with the TV remote. That is what this little box is built to do. I was about to get a box with similar specs that had optical output, but the TV volume control does NOT control volume on the optical output. I have not yet seen a box with audio digital-in that does volume control on its audio digital-out. On my setup (TV and powered speakers), the audio seems noise-free, no hiss, no hum. But, the digital audio from the TV starts and stops as I switch program sources, and that start/stop sends some click and pop sounds to the speakers. That's one star off for not silencing the start/stop clicks. This is common sense if you understand what this simple little box does -- IF this box sends it's audio output to something that has its own volume control THEN there are two volume controls that can work against eachother. Setting one control too high and the other very low can cause audio distortion and noise. For my setup it was easy to set the speaker volume once and then never touch it again.

It works, and I love it!
I've wanted to connect my 2019 Samsung Smart TV to my older Denon stereo receiver and its excellent speakers - wasn't sure it was possible. I'm tech-ignorant, so I did some research. This seller was very helpful, as was Quora.com, and I highly recommend calling 1-800-Samsung, or the tech support for your TV. I am now enjoying wonderful sound, especially the musical programs and Pandora! I'm very happy with this converter, and think I'll buy a spare.

Excellent Support!
We purchased a new Samsung TV which unfortunately does not have the correct output for our older receiver. We needed an adapter to go out of the Arc HDMI on the TV into our RCA inputs on our sound system. This item was the most reasonably priced to accomplish this. The added bonus I discovered after the purchase is that there is also an 1/8 inch mini plug output on the unit as well, which is what we used previously. When using the CEC feature on the TV, we were able for the first time to control our receiver volume from the same remote, which we have not been able to do for years! The best part of this company is their excellent support. We contacted them with some questions and they responded remarkably, even answering questions and resolving issues before I could ask them! So I wholeheartedly recommend this company and any product they might sell!

Controls volume, but DRASTICALLY compresses audio
not sure if my unit is defective. it functions and works almost flawlessly with arc volume control (0-100 is excessive and sluggish). HOWEVER, it produces an audible hiss, even at low volumes, and the audio it outputs sounds like HOT garbage. it sounds worse than bluetooth!! sorry, but audio quality this poor renders it useless to me. returning it. 2 stars for the arc functionality, but if it were just an audio splitter its a no from me dog.
