Does it actually work as a real door knob?

No it does not. It is a 3-D wall plaque and cannot be used as a doorknob. I was under the impression that it was a doorknob and would have returned it, but my granddaughter saw it and wanted it on her wall.

I had it shipped to my granddaughter and it was not want I expected. It is not a door knob, it's wall art. If you just want to hang it on a wall it's fine, but you cannot use it on a door.
