Does cover greys.
My natural hair colour is a mid to dark brown. Previously I had demi permanent colour at the hairdressers. Couldn't afford foils etc so it was just one colour all over. As I went more grey, it looked more orange in some light. So I decided to stop colouring my hair 3 years ago. It was very grey underneath, and as I like to wear my hair up, this was the main colour that was seen. A smattering of silver/ grey throughout, but predominantly grey at the front, and I was getting fed up with looking grey. I can't afford grey blending, but thought if I used a ash blond semi permanent, that would just colour the grey, and give me the look of expensive (!) highlights, without the cost. I had read if you choose an ash tone it looks less orange. Once applied all over, I left it for 20 mins. I am happy with the results, but it's not what I was aiming for, which was blond highlights. When this washes out, I'm going to try the same again but with a lighter ash blond semi - permanent, if I can find one.

I tried this hoping for a subtle, natural-looking blonde refresh, and it was… okay. The color came out a bit darker than I expected and leaned more neutral than “cool,” so it didn’t fully cancel out the warmth in my hair. It did leave my hair feeling soft and not overly damaged, which I appreciated, and the smell wasn’t too harsh compared to other dyes. Overall, it’s decent for a gentle, low-commitment color, but if you’re really aiming for a true cool-toned blonde, this might not quite get you there.

Just not accurate. I am experienced at home color. I used this on level 6-ish bleached hair that was too warm, but I wanted to wait to bleach again so I didn't fry my hair. I did a test strand at the back of my head that turned out ok, but on the more damaged/porous hair, it turned out much, much darker and warmer, like a warm reddish brown. Horrible. Did not budge with hair color remover. Awful stuff. This is what stylists are warning you about when they say "don't use box dye." Spend another $15, buy a tube of wella semi-permanent and some level 10 developer and save your hair.

Back before the change when the product was 10 minutes instead of 20, 7A Dark Cool Blonde was always my go to product. I’d apply it when my highlights were growing out and I didn’t want to spend the money for more highlights. I’d apply 7A all over to get back to my natural dark blonde color which allowed me a few more weeks before a salon visit. The 7A color washed out beautifully over a month or so, nourished my hair and honestly my hair color with it was so gorgeous bc my existing highlights still popped but there was no root growth showing bc 7A darkened my hair just enough. I had a few boxes of the 10 minute formula and life was good. Fast forward to last week when I used the same color 7A as always and I got this horrible brassy super dark gold mess. Sooo disappointed and shocked. I tripled checked the box to make sure I hadn’t used a golden brown or a red color by mistake instead of 7A Dark cool blonde. The first photo is what it always did to my hair. The middle bright reddish is right after using the color. The last photo is after several shampoos with both clarifying & dandruff shampoos and purple conditioner mask to try and remove some of the dark color & tone the gold brassy red out. This is so disappointing. I will be scared to use the 7A product again and honestly afraid to try any of the Demi(?) permanent Natural instincts colors. I’d love feedback from Clairol about why this happened and what suggestions they can offer me. Fortunately it’s not permanent but I’m not looking forward to how this brassy gold color will fade. Very very disappointed.

The 7A Dark Cool Blonde came out very dark on my hair with red hues, like medium brown on my blonde highlights and dark brown on my light brown low lights.. I am not very happy with the color at all. Giving it 3 stars because it does feel well conditioned and it did blend my salon blonde and grey at least even though I don't like the color it ended up. It didn't fully cover my white streaks but I didn't expect it to. I will just have to wait a month and go back to the salon darn. I was hoping this would be a less expensive alternative for me.

Im very happy with this hair color. Im about 65% grey & it covered them! Plus, my hair felt softer after coloring with this product than anything I’ve used before. I used 7A. Initially it came out a light/medium brown. A little darker than planned, but I know it will fade over time. I also left it on 40 minutes b/c I have resistant greys. Will definately buy it again!
