A nice tool for those higher apples
This is perfect for picking fruit on high trees. This year, climate change has produced an huge crop of fruit without this tool or something similar, one would just have to wait until the fruit dropped on the ground. Easy to use, but if a twist is required to pick the fruit, it is sometimes possible to untwist the pole and it's length can shorten dramatically. One needs to remember to twist in the other direction. But, it works well.

Needed this deperately
I should have purchase done of these when we first moved into our bungalow six years ago; however, the gardener had pollarded the trees so much that it took three years before the trees (just two) bore any apples. However hundred from this year have been left to rot simply becasue I've been unable to reach them and when they have fallen they have bruised badly. Next year I'm going to recover as many apples as I can to make several gallons of scrumpy cider. :) Edit, So, it's now next year and I have been able to recover loads of apples without bruising. Excellent tool. The only issue I've had is the stitching on the netting came loose so I had to restitch it, but it was still a great buy and I would highly recommend it to anyone. p.s. I'm about to start my cider making. Using plastic recycled 2l orange bottles and balloons (air traps) and a smoothie maker to crush the apples. :)

Every tool can't be perfect for every job, but this is a good 'un
Not as light as all that, needing some strength as well as dexterity to wield, but it certainly works. For present needs, I could have done with a smaller bag and lighter pole.....but some of the weight must be down to the fact that it has such a potential reach, which means when my trees get bigger I'll be glad of it! Our orchard is on a slope, ladder not really an option, so the extending pole will come into its own :-) The bag was also larger than needed this time because I was picking apples to be stored, and didn't really want the first ones in the bottom to be clobbered by a whole lot of others falling on top. I ended up picking individual fruits and pulling back the pole each time, which was cumbersome. If that weren't a consideration, the bag capacity (large enough for quite a few apples, depending on their size) will be an advantage, and if the tree is really tall, this will definitely be the picker you want :-)

broke first day
This picker seems very sturdy. Heavier than my last one to use so takes a little more muscle, but it looked great. Unfortunately, the bag tore twice within the first 15 minutes - thin cotton fabric not at all sturdy for rubbing against branches. And then one side of the bracket that holds the basket onto the pole snapped. And the rubber end on the pole is loose so it kept falling off and the metal underneath is a bit sharp. All very disappointing. I bought it because it extends 4 metres and looked much better made than cheaper shorter ones - sadly, not.

Good product, shame about the bag
Very solidly made. The downside of this is that it is quite heavy and can be difficult to manoeuvre. However, it is good at removing apples and has a very long reach. Unfortunately, the bag was not attached very well and fell off after picking six admittedly quite large apples. On closer inspection, there were several small holes in the bag where it had rubbed on the metal. We replaced the bag with a nylon one and have had no further problem. If the bag had been stronger and better attached, this would have been a five star review. One last point - when sliding the inner pole into the outer one, keep your fingers well clear. It is quite painful if the pole catches them as it slides in!

Super Product
This was brilliant for picking apples from the top of my mother's very tall apple tree. Sturdy product - perhaps not the lightest but neither was it super heavy. It has saved an awful lot of apples from being wasted this year!

It is OK BUT.. Read on
Item did not travel well, see pictures. Not worth hassle of returning as I suspect damage was the result of poor packing and uncaring carriers. Took me a couple of hours to straighten (or round) up, my wife will later make a replacement catching bag. Performs fairly well if you pick individual Bramley apples. The telescopic pole unlocks if you twist device the incorrect way and crashes down, so be warned on that point. Not easy to tighten this by hand, as pole is smooth, if overtightened then difficult to readjust. Overall a quite useful tool, enabled us to reach fruit not previously possible, once problems sorted. Pole rubber foot/ferrule also damaged.
