Descent Second Edition: The Trollfens

I'm a big Descent fan, and I was ecstatic to learn of the Trollfens. I love that it uses a swampy environment rather than the caves and wastelands that the other expansions and base game use. As a mostly overlord player, there's tons of new tricks with the Infector class, as well as the new monsters Harpy and Plague Worm. The Harpies have grown to be one of my top favorite monster groups of the series with their high speed and Swarm ability. Plague Worms are also incredibly useful with high defense and the great Burrow ability. As for new heroes, I haven't seen Roganna or Grisom in action yet so I can't really comment on them. But the new Prophet class is very popular in my group of heroes, and the Stalker class has a few fans as well. Bol'Goreth is a bit uninspiring as a lieutenant, however (especially compared to Valyndra the Wyrm Queen). My gaming group is a bit impatient with games, so I'm very happy they included a mini-campaign for The Trollfens. The quests themselves are great fun, with my favorite of them forcing the heroes to save a wagon full of survivors before it sinks to the bottom of the swamp and they are killed. I definitely recommend getting this expansion over Lair of the Wyrm or even Labyrinth of Ruin, though ultimately I think all the expansions should be purchased for any Descent fan.

Adds some great monsters and some fun quests. This is my favorite board game by far. the rules can be daunting but once you play it a couple times it's very easy. I have never played as a hero so I can't say much about them.

This mini expansion is a great expansion if you're finishing up the Shadow Rune campaign and looking for some new quests and miniatures. The new heroes add some solid depth to the game and the monsters are also very fun to use as the overlord. This is a solid small expansion for very little money.

It's a rare item, so if you want it now, be ready to pay far more than it's worth.

Love Descent but the game I received is missing its character pieces!

This is a great expansion. I wish the bosses were among the figurines without forcing you to purchase them separately, but the Elf trapper and Dwarven support class add another dimension to the base game dynamics making strategy heavy.

Includes much more tiles than other small expansion, Lair of the Wyrm. But quests are one encounter. Hero miniatures are still Superb but i found monster miniatures in this box are a bit dual compared to other expansion.

Purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 30 something son. He really liked it and ordering process was very easy.

Die neuen Kreaturen sind nett, aber was macht diese Erweiterung fantastisch sind die Aufgaben. Auch die Sumpfteilen sind fantastisch und ich freue mich sehr als ich diese Erweiterung benutzen kann.

Thoroughly enjoy this expansion. Adds two new heroes (a healer and a scout), along with two new monsters (harpies and worms). Nice map tiles too!
