Is it fully compatible with Apple Mac OS-X systems?

Question 2

How long is the cord? I ask because I'm using it for a desktop and prefer it to be at least 5 feet.

Okay!I measured the cord only with a ruler from the mouse to the tip of the USB plug in it and it is 4 ft. 8 1/2 inches. If you read my earlier post where I said it was 5 ft long, I hadn't measured it at that time.

is clicking and scrolling silent in this mouse compared to other mouse?

The clicking isn't silent, but after testing against an old Dell RP962 / PY777 and a new E-3lue Cobra this Amazon Basic mouse clicks more muted than both.  As others have said scrolling quickly produces a slightly more noticeable sound, but scrolling slowly is stealth compared to the ambient noise I normally hear in my office.

USB 3 or USB 2?

My system says this mouse is USB 2, but it would not surprise me if it is a USB 1.1. Mice don't need much bandwidth.

As far as the USB connection, it is USB-A (used in USB 1.1 through USB 3.2).

To use this on a very new computer (like a MacBookPro M1) that has only USB-C ports (used for USB 4, Thunderbolt 3 and 4, and some USB 3.2), you would need a USB-A to USB-C adapter. For example, this 2-pack has a couple sturdy USB-A to USB-C adapters:

But any inexpensive one will do for just a mouse. There are very few mice that have a newer USB-C connector, yet. So for now, I'd recommend picking a mouse that you like for its price, feel, and quietness, and just get a small cheap adapter if you need one.
