Works great, and set up couldn't be easier. I bought this to install a "plug-and-play" intercom system so I didn't have to yell at my kids from across the house anymore. It works exactly as I need it to. I started with just two, and bought two more for additional rooms - they all automatically connect as soon as you plug them in. I have them all linked so when you speak through one, it transmits through all of the others simultaneously, but you can program it to only transmit to a single unit at a time using a simple and easy channel system. (There are nine channel numbers, so my guess is that is the maximum number of units that can be linked together, but I haven't fact-checked that.) The sound quality on the transmission is great - clear and loud (which is great for children and the elderly). It has different settings where you can either transmit by holding a button down (like a walkie-talkie) or press an "on" button once that transmits continuously (like a telephone). What's more, all of this versatility is truly optional and not complicated. Like I said, you can just plug it in and it's ready to go, literally no set up required. They are built simple and compact, the size of a small book, are light-weight and their appearance doesn't stand out any more than any of our other electronic devices. The one possible down-side is that the material feels very light-weight, so it is possible that it might break easier than one would like. However, my kids have already (of course) thrown them around a bit and they held up fine. Also, even if they end up being more fragile than is ideal, they still are worth the very reasonable price.

Wasn't expecting much for the price, but these turned out to be a pretty nice set of intercoms. Voices are clear, and the quality of the units is good. Each unit comes with it's own cord and power block, so I am very happy with that. We have a large house, so I ordered a set of 4, but you can get 2, 4, or 6 units and assign each one a station. Set-up was as easy as plugging each unit in and assigning each one a number by pressing that number on the keypad. Okay, I've read some poor reviews that I would like to address now. 1. These ARE Dual VOX. The trick is to assign each unit a number by pressing and holding a different number for each unit. When you talk, press the number of the unit you want to talk through, and then wait for someone to pick up. For example, if you are at station #1 and want to speak to someone at station #2, press the button with the "2" on it, and then wait for someone to press the "talk" button. You can then talk easily without pushing the talk button. 2. Voices are clear when speaking, but keep in mind that these are VOX units, and there is a slight delay when speaking, so wait a second before responding. 3. The "MONITORED" feature is NOT for having a conversation. Watch the video in the Amazon description for more information about other functions of these intercoms.

I pretty much got tired of hearing people yelling from downstairs in my house like Neanderthals so I wanted a cheap and effective tool to talk to people from room to room efficiently. I even thought about getting a professional and permanent system installed, but I decided it wasn't that serious. These were way easy. All I had to do was literally just plug them up and just long press which number I want to assign to each room and its done. Also, long press the talk/call button so it go to auto answer (so the receiving end does not have to touch it to allow you to start talking). Easy peasy lemon squeasy. I have four bedrooms, so I put one in each room, then I put one downstairs next to the kitchen table and one in the upstairs family room and its all good. Now.....if we could just break the habit of yelling around the house then we would be all good. But the intercom system works great.

I really like these devices. They're small and very lightweight (they seem to consist of just a PC board and a speaker). Sound quality is really good. There's no battery option, but that would increase the size and weight. You can pick one of 6 channels if you want to be able to call a specific unit. Example: channel 1 for the kitchen, 2 for bedroom #1, 3 for bedroom #2, 4 for the garage, etc. Alternately, assign the same channel to all units so when you call, they all ring and the other person can answer wherever they are. You can monitor a room without being heard. My favorite feature is the two way communication. You can call another room, and when someone answers, you both can talk at the same time. It basically works as a speakerphone! It's better than VOX because unlike VOX, it does not cut out the first word (it does not have VOX). What I don't like is the sound volume. If someone is hard of hearing, they might have trouble. That's why I removed one star.

Works fantastic. Very easy to use. Good price as well. The important feature is that it is duplex mode.

These units are not Full Duplex, they are Half Duplex with VOX. Both users cannot talk at the same time, If you attempt to talk while the other party is already talking then you will not be heard. One of the units I was using was in a loud environment and it stayed keyed up all the time. The 2nd unit could never talk to the 1st. I did follow the directions in the instructions and put the 1st unit on channel 1 and the 2nd on channel 2, pressed the #1 button from unit 2, the user on unit 1 pressed the answer button, VOX worked fine, but VOX isn't what it say on the package, it says FULL DUPLEX. So both users cannot talk at the same time. Changed the channel to 3, 4, 5 and 6 on the 2nd unit while unit 1 stayed on channel 1 and the results were the same. We then reversed the order and on unit 1 we changed the channels from 2 to 6 while unit 2 stayed on channel 1 with no difference. If you purchase these units knowing that they are Half Duplex with VOX then they are very good. They work as advertised and sound clear. NOTE: I only had the units about 30 ft from each other for testing purposes, they were transmitting through 3 walls with electric and WIFI all around them. The issue is that it says on the box that they are Full Duplex and they are not. Because one of the locations is in a room with a loud TV and a window unit that is a bit noisy then the compressor is active it stays keyed up all the time and the 2nd unit can never talk to it. So they will not work for my intended purposes. I am returning them.

I'm irritated! To save you time I am going to share the important things you must know about this intercom set. This is a dual mode intercom. It has a Duplex & Simplex setting. Duplex = Like a phone. Call, receiving unit rings, answer, talk like a cell phone, hang up. Simplex = Like a walkie talkie. Select channel, press a button while you speak, receiving unit broadcasts, let go of button, receiving unit must press button to respond. ** If you are wanting an intercom for a home residential use, DO NOT GET THIS! ** Here is why. Home intercoms should be Simplex only. In my specific usage, I only want to be able to locate and share information with another person or persons in our very large house. I am tired of yelling down the stairs for dinner, or to bring up laundry, or to ask a simple question. That is what intercoms in homes are used for 99% of the time. I don't need long two way conversations with someone in the basement. If that were the case, I would just go talk them. Commercial use may be different, and that's fine, this review is for residential use. This set uses both Duplex and Simplex modes. It has 6 channels. I set each unit to its own channel hoping I could label each channel to its corresponding room. After all, that is what an intercom is built for, right? Well, that doesn't really work with this set. Once the channels/rooms are set, you have to "call" a unit (duplex). That means the receiving unit's owner must get up, walk over to the intercom, answer the intercom, talk, then hang up. I could just walk half way down the stairs and yell "dinner" by the time I went through that. Plus, the recipient of the message has to stop what they are doing to answer a fricken call! This is not how intercoms should work in a home setting. So you may ask, just switch to Simplex, right? No. The Simplex is stupid. The calling unit must be on the same channel as the receiving unit. Ok, not a big deal, just memorize each room and its channel (or make an extension list, laminate it, and put it above each unit), no, again! Here is the problem. Once you select the channel you want to speak through, you press the "talk" button and it broadcasts on that receiving unit. But now the sending unit is on the receiving unit's channel. You have to then manually put it back on the sending unit's specific channel after you have finished whatever conversation. If you don't, well then whoever is trying to reach that unit/channel/room, is talking to themselves. Well guess what? Does this manufacturer honestly think that out of the 5 kids I have in the house that any of them are going to set their channel back to their corresponding room when they are finished "intercoming" another unit? Ha! So what you end up with is never knowing what channel the room you are trying to reach is on. Basically making this entire set a completely outrageous waste of time and money! So again, you may ask yourself, why not just make the kids use duplex only? They can select a unit (room) they want to talk to and make the "call" waiting for the recipient to answer and the adults can use the simplex version to announce household instructions. Sure, that is what I was going to do. Except...... The group function is also a complete waste of time. Isn't a group intercom function intended to deliver messages to all units? Kind of like a PA system. Not this one. Group communication DOES NOT work in simplex mode! It just rings all units and whichever unit "answers" the call is now in a private conversation with the sending unit!! Who designed this?! I mean seriously? Did the manufacturer ever even use their product to see how it works? See why I am irritated. Group means you are speaking to the... wait for it....GROUP! I have a very large house, 7 bedrooms. How am I supposed to inform all the kids dinner is ready? "push to talk" each room individually? Group call the whole house and hope somebody picks up, then equally hope that one child goes around and tells his or her siblings the message. Hope that when a child uses the push to talk they put the system back on its room's channel? Unbelievable!!!!!! If you want this for a home use scenario..... DON'T DO IT! It is a waste of time and money. Get this instead.... Find a "Half Duplex" or more accurately, a Simplex system with a channel lock. These systems make you choose a channel (room) to communicate with, then you "push to talk", that unit then broadcasts. Once you let go of the button, the receiving unit may "push to talk" and respond, or do nothing at all. Then after 60 seconds, the sending unit automatically returns to its default channel (room) and listens for another sending unit to speak to it. OH! and the group function actually works like a group function. Press "Group" an all units broadcast simultaneously. Most of these units also have a VOX feature which helps a Simplex system act like a Duplex system. All that is, is software that detects your voice and transmits without having to press the button. Its still simplex and only one person can talk at once, but it saves you constantly having to press the button to talk. In short, this kind of thing really bugs me. The listing is vague and uninformative. They waste people's time because they can't adequately describe what they are selling. And furthermore, I bet they never even use their own product. If they did, they would not design it the way its been designed. After these shortcomings, quality and price are irrelevant. This set has wasted more of my time than its worth and it is being boxed up and returned. In my opinion, this is NOT an intercom, Its an old 1990's cell phone.

These just okay, but they are a bit annoying. The unit beeps every time you press a button, and there doesn't seem to be any way to turn it off. This is especially driving my wife crazy. I was also hoping to use them in duplex mode, but they are not full duplex as advertised. Full duplex means you can both listen and talk to each other at the same time. What these do is they activate the transmit mode when you speak loud enough, and then the other person can't talk at the same time. The problem is you have to talk in a pretty strong and loud voice in order for it to transmit. Even when she was sitting right by it, my wife talked in a normal voice, but it wasn't loud enough to make the unit transmit in the "duplex" mode. If you want to use these like an old-fashioned intercom by pressing the talk button, and don't mind getting beeped at, they should work pretty well.
