Can I control the fan speed via software? (over usb)

Mind is controlled but done with firmware. It is super quiet thou

Depends on how your attaching it, I'm using it via the enclosed usb adapter for past 6 months, but it runs constant, I have purchased a 2n2222 npn transistor but not used it yet in conjunction with pinouts for temperature control.
