Tech 50 years.
Works very well,I am in the a/c and refrigeration business. And it works very well. You just haft to learn the sound, and understand it works of of sound waves. Would highly recommend it.

Works great in auto repair shop, much better than the bluepoint mic.
Pinpointed an axle bearing growl with shop radio right next to you. The bearing was barely bad and thought it could be the carrier (in diff) bearing but was axle bearing. This tool nailed it. Been using the Bluepoint microphone for over a decade or more, that thing going in garbage, had better luck with using a hose or screw-driver to pick up noise. Tried to use on injectors but secondary voltage too noisy when that close. But it's awesome away from secondary noise.

Works well, but the tube can pick up interference.
Extremely accurate, but can be tricked by the tubes in tight spaces. Try using it without the tubes if there is too much background noise.

Works for hvac
I do transport refrigeration and had a hard time finding leaks I’ve used sniffers and bubbles this thing you can hear small leaks undetectable by a sniffer even boost leaks air brake leaks also has frequency transmitter you can check seals with like freezers or back of a refrigerator truck or fridge well worth the money although the light gage is not that sensitive but you’ll definitely hear leaks also has a stethoscope great value most useful tool I’ve bought for my trade

Not good
I bought a $650 AccuTrak ultrasonic leak detector for finding refrigerant leaks and was very impressed when I found two leaks that nobody else could find in 5 minutes. Thought that maybe I could get by with a less expensive unit and return the AccuTrak so ordered this. I could sort of hear the two leaks that I had already located, but if I didn't already find them with the AccuTrak I would have not found them with this unit. Could barely hear the leaks over the background noise. This unit also just has a volume control, but not a sensitivity control like the AccuTrak. I understand that I am comparing this to a unit that is 5 times the price, but for what I need it for it really is useless.

Works - - kind of
Helps me diagnose steam traps. Kind of works, picks up a lot of electronic noise (old florescent lights). touching the contact probe "grounds" it and reduces the noise. Flexing the probe reduces the noise.. I make it work for now.

Ultrasonic
Had the opportunity to test this Ultrasonic Leak detector, Today I ran over a 1/4” chisel and it imbedded in my Tire. I filled the tire back up with Air and drove to the nearest Autoparts store. Using pliers I pulled the chisel out of the tire and plugged the hole with a repair kit. Would you know I couldn’t hear the leak with my ears but using this ultrasonic I was picking up the leak 4 feet away. I plugged the hole again and the second time was the charm. It didn’t pick up the leak this time. Saved my butt. I have a Amprobe Ultrasonic but it was getting old (Since 1995) time to retire it. This one has checked out so far, Let’s see how it does on Refrigerant leaks. Longevity remains to be seen. Solid 4.5 stars.

Works perfectly if adjusted properly
I had an air leak in my transport truck, took it to the dealer and they couldn’t find it, had my own guy go front to back with soap water, then we were loosing all the air in an hour. Very frustrating and potentially could park the truck. Finally looked around for a stethoscope and came across this. Thought couldn’t go wrong with amazon returns. We played around with the receiver and earphones on the tire filling hose to practice and almost through it back in the box. Then my guy found out if you turn the volume up in a quiet room everything sounds like an air leak…then turn it down til it’s silent …go to the air hose and presto you could hear the air leak well. Climbed under the truck and within minutes found the air leak on the cab air suspension valve. Not so easy to access the valve to fix it though. Play with the volume and you should be able to make it work, I bet the stethoscope end will work as well on mechanical squeals and clunks!

Works wonders.
Legitimately trying to get everyone in my company to pick one up. Got sent out to a unit thats had a 2 year leak no one could find. I got to be the hero that day because of this thing. Ive diagnosed 7 leaks with this in the past 6 months. Definitely worth the price with the amount of time it saves. Unfortunately when ever we have a suspected leak I get sent out evertime now hahs
