Reuzel Severed Head Matt Clay Pomade, Workable Hold With Added Definition And Texture 3.38oz/95g

have been using Reuzel Fiber Pomade for several weeks now, and it delivers exactly what it promises: firm hold, low natural shine, and excellent texture that works perfectly for all hair types. The texture is smooth and fibrous, easy to scoop out and rub between hands until soft and spreadable. It applies evenly whether hair is damp or dry, without tugging or clumping. Once styled, it gives a secure, firm hold that lasts all day, yet remains pliable enough to run your hands through or restyle if needed – no stiff, crunchy, or sticky feeling at all. The finish is exactly low shine, almost matte, very natural and understated, never greasy or shiny, so it looks like you have no product in while keeping your shape and volume. It adds great separation and definition, making messy, textured styles, side parts, or quiffs look sharp and well-groomed. It has a very mild, fresh minty scent that is pleasant but not overpowering, and fades quickly after application. Best of all, it is water-soluble and washes out completely with just warm water and regular shampoo, leaving no residue or build-up behind. It works well on fine, medium, and thick hair alike, and a small amount goes a long way, so the tin lasts a very long time. If you want a reliable, everyday styling product that gives control, texture, and a natural finish without the shine or stiffness, this is easily one of the best you can buy. Highly recommended.

Best reuzel I’ve used. Bit disappointed in the price point. I thought the two sizes on offer were a normal sized tin and a large. Not a normal and a small if you get me. I paid for the cheaper of the two expecting a normal sized tin and got a tiny thing. Fortunately I only use a tiny amount for my desired effect. I have pushed back longer hair and use curl creme mainly. Only using the reuzel to add more hold for when my hair needs to stay off my face. It smells fantastic and has a lovely matte finish. Probably a bit too expensive for what I need but the finish is perfect.

Best quality I’ve found so far. Went through many different options over the past year. Think I have found the one for me. It smells nice, it’s easy to work with and it lasts months with daily use. I have a lengthy top with skinfade, hair slicking back from front to back about 7” in length and it holds all day even in extreme heat. It also rinses out very easily when it’s shower time.

My hair is dark blonde, very straight and apparently has strong opinions about where it wants to go. Finding something with decent hold that doesn’t also make it look darker, wet and plastered down has always been difficult. This gets surprisingly close to the sweet spot. It’s much easier to work through my hair than a matte clay, particularly if my hair is still slightly damp. Clays can drag and end up distributed rather randomly; this goes through much more evenly. At the same time, it has considerably more hold than the easy-to-apply water-based pomades I’ve used, without giving me that shiny, wet look I’m trying to avoid. The hold lasts well for me, but importantly it doesn’t set my hair into an immovable architectural structure. I can run my hands through it and restyle it during the day, which is probably my favourite thing about it. It washes out reasonably easily too, and the subtle minty smell is excellent — one of the things I generally like about Reuzel products. For me, this sits neatly between a traditional water-based pomade and a matte clay: most of the convenience of the former, with more of the natural finish and hold of the latter. Not quite perfect, hence four stars, but very good, and possibly the best product I’ve found yet!

Brilliant product. I've had many of the Reuzel water-based products and I really like most of them (Extreme Hold, Fiber, Concrete, Blue Pomade, Grooming Tonic). My go-to was always the Extereme Hold Matte Pomade (grey tin) however I was looking for something that was a little drier, as I find the EHMP application and finish a little greasier/waxier, even for a water-based pomade. Ironically, I have found most of the Reuzel water-based pomades a to have a waxy feel and finish. Reuzel Severed Head pomade is a perfect cocktail of easy to apply, dry product, strong hold, no shine, re-styleability (it doesn't set) and washes out easily. You could use it as a pre-styler to wet hair and blow dry a style, or as a pomade to finish your style. This is absolutely not a waxy, greasy product that I found with some of the others in the Reuzel water-based line up...none of the others I tried could be used as a pre-styler. I personally pre-style with the Reuzel grooming tonic and then finish with the Severed Head, and the look is just what I'm after - a hairstyle that looks styled but not over-styled. For me this is a 'goldilocks' (just right) product so it will be replacing my EHMP for now.

This product is great, I would definitely recommend it, this was my second time ordering Reuzel. My issue is with Amazon and the Solretail Ltd...I didn't receive all of the order, the 35g travel tin was missing from my order (no damage to the Amazon packaging) I was informed by Amazon to send the 95g tin back and that I would receive a refund within 5-7 days of Amazon receiving the item back. This wasn't an option for me as I needed the product straight away and didn't want to wait over a week for my refund and then try again. I thought that it might be worth contacting Solretail Ltd to see if they could just send me out the missing 35g tin, apparently for some contractual reason with Amazon this was not possible, pretty poor customer service. The one star is for product not the seller.

This smells fantastic. I always struggle getting the hold I want- loads of other pomades seem to flop but not this beauty. It's got great hold. I like my hair messy and stand-uppy and this thing is perfect. It's not super shiny but shiny enough. It's great value for money. I think it ticks all the boxes- great hold, good price, works how you want it to, washes out easily and smells fab.

I've been using this product on and off for a couple years. It has always been expensive for what it is, but this year, it's just gotten silly. I paid $13.99 for this, and can see that as of today, it has gone up to $17.99. There are plenty of similar products out there, and my advice based on value for money would be to look elsewhere outside of the Reuzel brand.
