Use this book with ARRLโs Online Exam Review for Ham Radio to review the study material chapter by chapter. Take randomly generated practice exams using questions from the actual examination pool. You wonโt have any surprises on exam day! Review: Great book if it's your learning style! - Everyone learns differently. Book...videos..classroom...find what works. I found this book really easy to learn and dominate the exam. Using their online site, You can read chapter one, then review exam questions from chapter one. Practice those everyday, and then move to chapter two and repeat. By the end of the book and daily testing myself with the chapter tests, I was able to walk in and pass the exam 100% without hardly thinking. The book tends to give more information than needed, sometimes an entire page. BUT this is good because in my opinion, the idea is to give you the material needed to pass...once you pass ( Face it, You'll pass by remembering answers ) The book is a great reference to come back to as needed. 10/10 for me, easiest test I did, and I was horrible with tests in school! Review: If you've bought the radio, you need to get the license. This will get you there. - Nearly done with my first reading of the book. My intent was to read it through to get the lay of the land and then re-read using the sample quizzes in the back (actual quiz questions chosen from a large set of possible questions) until I feel confident of passing the first time through (the nearest testing center is about an hour's drive away). There is a LOT to learn about the topic, but it has been chopped up into easy to digest pieces. There is also much additional material available at no extra charge on the ARRL web site if something isn't immediately clear OR if you just want to dig deeper. I would suggest that you have a radio available to follow along with some of the features (common to nearly all HAM radios) mentioned. I think that if you buy this book, work the examples and simply pay attention to what you are being told, there is a very real chance you will pass the Technician class exam on your first go-around.

Awesome Manual
This is a great manual to use as you prep for the Technician Class Amateur License exam. It's got a lot of good info in it for later use as you begin your Amateur station operation too. Keep it on the bookshelf in your radio shack for handy reference. ARRL has done a great job on this whole seres of manuals. One note: Make sure you get the current edition. (That would currently be the 4th edition.) There are a LOT of older versions for sale, both new and used, at really low prices, but these older books do not address all of the current exam questions. They are still goo reference books, but not as handy for someone wanting to prep for the License exam.

The Gold Standard
If you're going to get your ham radio Technician license, this is the gold standard textbook. All of the detailed information you need in bite-sized chunks is there with lots of illustrations and tables to make it all clear and easy to understand. In fact, there's lots more there than what you need to pass the test so it's staying on my shelf as a great reference. I like the spiral bound version better than the normal binding version because it sits flat on my desk. Finally, it comes with all of the possible test questions (and their answers!) in an appendix in the back. How cool is that!?

Good Book
Good book, a little more technical than I was hoping, but full of knowledge

Good info but will be replaced as of July 2022
We used this to study for and pass our Technician license for Ham Radio. A key point to remember is study to know the correct answer and not the position of the answer like A,B,C, or D. This version is the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual 4th Edition. Although it will be replaced soon, the replacement ( I assume version 5 ) will be just as good, so don't worry unless you plan to take your test around the cutoff date July 1, 2022. Then it would be a good idea to verify with AARL what you should do. But I would imagine the new version will be out soon with plenty of advance warning.

Contains everything you need to know plus more
This study manual contains everything you need to learn and pass the material in the technician level exam. I find it easy to go back and find specific sections that i identify as weak in after taking practice exams online. in addition to exam material, there is a wealth of knowledge about amateur radio with links to online study material that goes into a great deal more depth. If you are going to take the exam, get this book. You can learn the material in other places but in this book it is organized and easy to reference.

I'll probably never take the test.
Honestly there is so much information that you have to learn to get a HAM license that I'll probably never take the test. The amount of info required to memorize feels really overwhelming and probably outdated considering the technology available today. But the book is well written and is of a sturdy quality so if you are so inclined to punish your brain with a lot of math and stuff that is probably irrelevant in today's modern world where a fantastic UHF transceiver with digital controls can be acquired on Amazon for under $30, this is the book for you.
