Itโs grass fed not grain fed beef and tastes delicious!
Excellent stewing beef. Even raw, before cooking in a stew, it was very tender.

BEST I'VE EVER HAD---WELL USED TO BE ANYWAY!
Aug. 2025 Addendum: Did success spoil Verde? Well.. as far as their stew meat goes, I'd have to say "yes". I was so pleased when I first bought this stew meat as stated in my initial review. However, as time progressed, it's quality has deteriorated drastically. The last time I bought it, a full 1/4 lb (I weighed what I cut off) was fat & gristle! Of course I'm not saying anything new , these reviews are full of complaints about the lack of quality and the amt of fat. So, now, I have stand there once again and trim almost every little piece of meat because I want meat in the stew -not fat! If I wanted fat, I'd buy cheap supermarket meat. I pay a premium price because I want healthier. I want lean meat --that means A LOT LESS FAT. I want pasture raised on organic grass. Of course, no hormones or antibiotics-- then again, weren't they banned? Well, partially... I just googled that. It seems the FDA banned them in pork & poultry but only put limitations as to how much can be given to beef at any point in the process. (NOT GOOD ENOUGH FDA!) They can say "No hormones or antibiotics" only if they can adequately document it. That means you have to trust everyone's being honest. I guess it's just the chicken farmers who have lost their integrity. It seems every brand touts "Gee, we're so good see we don't give our animals ..." Of course, they neglect to say "It's the law". It's sad that we can't trust "Made in the U.S.A." to mean really high quality, strict standards and honesty in advertising anymore. Of course, those chicken farmers technically aren't lying. They just make it appear they're doing something really good for us, when in reality, they're saving their business by following the law--I hope! I'll get off my soap box now and hope the people at Verde read reviews & bring the quality of their stew meat back to where it was originally. I don't want to pay these higher prices for my labor to remove all that waste and throw it away. Suddenly the price per pound jumps by an additional 25%. I wasn't sure what to expect the first time I ordered meat from "fresh" and Verde--what a surprise! The stew meat had been well trimmed of fat and gristle. FIrst time ever didn't have to waste time standing there trimming them off the stew meat.. I want lean stew meat and this was. There's only two of us and two little dogs who get about 2-2.5oz ea. including the vegetables. I made a big pot and the stew got eaten up before I got some into the freezer. Buying more to make more stew. I like to cook in big batches and freeze in one night's dinner size portions so all we have to do is nuke to defrost & heat. Great meat!

Great taste
I made stew in an Instant Pot. I browned the meat, but did not sear it. My only concerns were that some chunks were quite large and had to be cut into two pieces to eat them and some were very gristly.
