The unit itself seems rugged enough though it would be better if it had a back plate. You could then stick it in place with double sided tape BEFORE you start drilling holes in an expensive French door. It's also heavier than I expected. One note is the serrations on the plunger used to lock it in place seem too fine or small for the task. We'll see how well they last in my application. One big complaint are the screws that came with it. Totally inadequate! The little screw for the top position might go into the door a whole eighth of an inch. While the longer ones for the bottom two positions will reach slightly over a quarter inch into the door. I went and replaced these with longer ones at the local ACE hardware for less than a buck. But I should not have had to! Might want to get a fresh pilot drill bit for the screws at the same time.

I bought this door stop for my backyard gate. The wind blows very strong here, and this stop keeps it open while I’m doing yard work. It may be overkill, but I didn’t want to buy a weak unit and have it break. This one should be good for years to come.

I used this product on a new rolling barn door I installed from my bathroom into my bedroom. I wanted to be able to secure the door closed for privacy purposes if needed, and this thing made it so no one can open the door from the opposite side. I installed it on the bedroom side of the door in case company wanted to use the bathroom from the main bathroom door. When fully engaged the barn door cannot be opened which keeps my bedroom private and inaccessible when company needs to use the facilities entering from the regular bathroom door. It works with pressure pressing down on the floor and can be easily engaged or unlocked with just your foot, no bending down.

This product is advertised with a 2" extension, but it only extends 1". This was too short to work with our gate. Mounted as low as it could go, it was still 1/2" from touching the ground. The rubber foot is threaded onto the bottom, so instead of returning the product, we will be adding a threaded extender to the bottom of the stop, with the rubber foot on the other end to give us the additional length we need to hit the ground. If anyone else finds themselves in this situation, the threads on this door stop are 1/4"-20. Besides the throw not being as long as advertised, the action on it works well and it feels very heavy duty. If it was the advertised 2" throw, this would be an easy 5 stars.

Locks and unlocks with easy and holds the door firm. It's great.
