Low protien for failing kidneys.
My cat is 16 years old, kidneys beginning to fail so the vet put him on this food. He doesn't care for it. With the vets ok, I mix about a teaspoon of summer squash baby food in with and apparently it is more palatable as he now eats it.

Does it help?
It's a prescription food I've been using since January 15, 2026 for my 11 year old cat with stage 4 kidney failure. Because Lily doesn't like the taste, I've had to mix in a bit of her previous wet food. I also add Purina Pro Plan Hydra Care, which she loves. She poops 4-5 times weekly and pees several times a day. What can I saw, she is still alive and seems happy and is very affectionate. I'd give this 5 stars if I actually knew it was the main reason Lily is still here.

Excellent cat food for kidney care
My cat likes the flavor and I think it has helped his kidneys. His kidney values have gotten better since eating this food. I highly recommend this cat food for early kidney care.

My cat won't eat this
This was recommended by the vet. The struggle is real with special kidney diet foods. I tried this because my cat liked another prescription diet by Purina. Unfortunately, she will eat around this one in her bowl. We gave it an honest effort, trying to hide it by blending it in small amounts with other food. This requires a prescription from your vet to order. We have almost a full case left unused.

My Kitty likes this!
My kitty would not eat the Science Diet kidney diet food but loves this Purina Pro Plan brand kidney diet. Even my other kitties who do not need to eat this prescription food would rather eat it instead of their regular food.

Great new product, poorly produced
I had high hopes for this product. One taste, and my hard-to-please cat fell in love with it, couldn't get enough of it. Even I, a human, could see that the pate was moist and luscious--except for a small area on the side of each can, which was hard and dry. I figured the palette must have been left standing on end in the warehouse, and assumed it wouldn't happen again. However, in the second shipment, the pate was totally hard and dry. I broke it up with a fork, and for a few days my cat ate some of it, but before the end of the week he had rejected the product entirely. I have 12 out of 24 cans to get rid of now. I wish I knew what Purina's original intentions had been in developing the product. Was it supposed to be smooth and luscious or hard and dry? I'm not going to gamble on another palette to find out.

my kidney cat refuses to eat this, he doesn't even like to smell it. even with fonts flora, or treats on top he's not a fan unfortunately.....
