This is my first powered coffee grinder, and the experience has been overwhelmingly positive so far. The OXO Brew Compact Conical Burr Coffee Grinder (Model: 8720800) is everything I was hoping for when I started researching conical burr coffee grinders that I could actually afford. Just load whole beans into the top and hit the button. To prevent damage to the machine, the grinder runs for 40 seconds unless you stop it by hitting the button again. For a full hopper, that is not enough time to grind all of the beans, but I just hit the button again. You are supposed to run the grinder for about ten seconds with no beans before cleaning it anyway. I see a lot of complaints about the cleaning process, but I don't agree and don't understand the big deal. The hopper/upper grinder body, grounds receptacle, removable burr grinder, and bottom motor quickly separate into four pieces, and are easily brushed clean. I had a cheap three piece set of natural bristle pastry brushes in my utensil drawer, and have now dedicated one for cleaning the coffee grinder. It takes just a few seconds and it is totally clean. I've had none of the static issues mentioned by other reviewers, possibly because of my natural fiber brush. My beans are also freshly bought. There is a small amount of grounds residue that falls out during cleaning, but I wipe the countertop with a cloth or paper towel and it is gone. It takes less time than it does to rinse out my drip coffee maker and refill it with fresh water. The only question is long-term durability, so I will let you know about that in a few years. At setting "7" I have amazingly uniform, perfectly ground coffee that produces a wonderful brew with none of the bitterness or aftertaste of store-bought ground coffee.

This grinder is fantastic. The reviews that talk about the grinder arriving used? Ignore them. When you get the box, it states they test their grinders with a small amount of coffee beans before packaging and may be residual coffee bean in the grinder. Complaints about static? Thats normal for grinders. Some grinders handle static better than others, but in simple terms, when you grind the beans at a high speed, you are actually stripping electrons which creates a charge imbalance, thus you have static. THANKFULLY they include a mini glass water spray bottle in the box. Spray your beans in the top hopper 3-4 times before grinding, shake em a little bit, then grind. This should drastically minimize the static in most cases. The footprint of this machine is what made it so attractive to me. It's truly compact and serves all of my coffee needs. You dont really need a hopper bigger than this 50g for at home use. You should be grinding your beans fresh every time you brew anyways. Only time I need more than 50g of bean at a time is if im making multiple cups for multiple people or if I'm making cold brew. It's so easy to use though, that running through a 2nd hopper of beans is such a none issue. Extremely easy to take apart and clean. Quieter than my last machine I bought 5 years ago. Grounds are consistent enough is size across grind sizes. Just PLEASE read the manual and the notices on the box. So many complaints I read that made me hesitant in buying this were explained literally on the box. The moment I opened it, read everything and tested, I fell in love with the machine.

This is a very high-quality coffee grinder. It feels solid, safe, and well made. The grind is consistent and even, which makes a noticeable difference in the taste of the coffee. I also like that it is fairly compact and does not take up too much counter space. However, the biggest downside is the container for the ground coffee. The design is very inconvenient with a hole in the center, which makes it almost impossible to pour or scoop out the coffee without spilling some of it. For such a well-made product, this part feels surprisingly poorly thought out. Overall, I’m happy with the grinder itself, but the container design definitely needs improvement.

Had been struggling with my coffee having a sour taste regardless of the beans, water temp, or brew time. Aeropress. Grind about 5 days worth at a time. Tried daily grinding - still sour. Friend suggested trying to beans grind finer. Old flat burr affordable grinder just couldn’t seem to grind finer. Time to shop for replacement. Criteria (in no particular order) was something that would fit in cabinet when not needed (very small kitchen), good rating for finer grind, no need for espresso fine, easy to clean, and not break the bank. Dithered over buying this or a baratza. Choose this one due to compact size, price, good rating from wire cutter, and easy to clean. No regrets! Morning coffee greatly improved with a 7 grind, fits easily in cabinet, and so easy to take apart and brush clean. Yes, there is a bit of grinds on counter and some static, but not a problem. Much less mess than former grinder. Good price and greatly improved coffee.

Before buying this I read the reviews complaining about noise, mess and complexity. It was with some trepidation, then, that I placed the order. I've had noisy grinders. One famous make is loud enough that I routinely left the room while it ran. This OXO grinder is not noisy by any stretch, running at a low growl even without being placed on a towel to buffer the vibration. As to mess and complexity, operation is simple and foolproof. Put beans in the top. Press the button. When it stops grinding, twist the top to remove the grinder assembly and, lo, there rests the ground coffee with (hopefully) all the aroma you put into roasting. I'll admit to adopting some degree of preparation. It requires a cereal bowl, a spoon and a coffee filter. When the grind is complete, twist and remove the grinder (top portion) assembly and place it with burr down on the open coffee filter. Tilt and pour the grounds into the cereal bowl. Reassemble the grinder. Place the filter in the coffee machine and measure the coffee into the filter with the spoon. Any extra coffee is placed in a waiting grounds jar. Yes, it's mind-boggling in its complexity. Often one or two specks escape and hide on the counter top. My wife offered to assist if I'm unable to deal with it. Usually while rinsing the bowl and spoon. I know, extra work. I've had less static buildup and messy operation with OXO than with more famous grinders that take up twice the counter space, howl like a banshee and explode their grounds across the kitchen. In contrast, this is solid, relatively quiet, and radiates durability in the look and feel. I'm very pleased with it.

This grinder performance it’s intended function well and the resulting coffee is great, but the cons may outweigh the pros. This is my first grinder. The price was right and it does grind well. However, because the bean hopper sits directly above the grinding container, you are forced to disassemble and clean the grinder daily. This also means dealing with that mess, daily. I have also been unable to resolve the static issue (tried water sprayer and water drops stirred into the beans). After 4-5 days I could probably make another pot of coffee just with the grinds that are sticking to the various parts of the grinder. A grinder that deposits the grinds into a separate container seems like a better design with less maintenance/daily mess, but they seem to come with an increased cost.

I love my OXO compact Conical coffee grinder. It takes up minimal space on the counter, and does a great job of grinding beans. It’s easy to keep clean, and helps me enjoy a really good coffee without a lot of hassle. Highly recommended.

Though it is extremely compact, I would not call it quiet and the design compromises to get it to this size are simply not worth it. Having to take apart multiple pieces to get the coffee out (it goes into the middle section and must be detached from top and bottom) I could deal with, but this thing somehow charges the grounds with historic levels of static. I'm talking 40 grams of coffee reduced to 35. And they stick to every surface inside and outside of the grinder: the burrs, the gearing, the receptacle, just full of the stuff. It gets into the bottom part too that you have to lock the receptacle in, occasionally blocking you from re-attaching it. That means grounds are all over the immediate area too as they shoot off and float away while you try to pour out of the charged container. I read similar thoughts in other reviews and thought "surely it can't be that bad, they are just not doing it right." Yes it's that bad and the design flaws of the compact form factor massively exacerbate this issue. I can't recommend this thing but I hope Oxo iterates on it and creates a better one with some common sense improvements.

Excellent coffee grinder! Despite that is made in China, works very well. I was looking for a compact electric burr grinder, and after so much research, this is the smallest one and reliable I fund. Of course, the ones made in Europe are much more effective, but for household use, it works fantastic. Coffee ground settings from very tiny (for espresso) or very corse for regular coffee drip machine and french press. Easy to store in a deep drawer. Remember that the quality of the coffee beans you use is very important!
