Very sturdy
It's a solid cubby. I do wish that whoever made these gave you the option to have less cubbies but make them bigger (without making the unit itself smaller). Small enough shoes can both fit into one slot, but boots and even tennis shoes have to take up one for each shoe. Also, it's very annoying that the back piece doesn't line up against all of the edges. So you have to sort of center it. Which wouldn't be a problem except now you run the risk of putting nails too close to the edge and putting it through into a cubby (as I did). Also, the assembly directions aren't that great. Pieces are labeled in the manual, but there are no stickers or anything on the actual pieces. Since it's simple to assemble and the pieces are mostly unique, it's not a big deal. More of an annoyance than anything.

Decent cheap shoe cubby.
Item is ok, nothing especially good quality, lightweight materials. Ok for the price, would maybe recommend for a kids room or something. Definitely not a legacy piece of furniture that you’d want to pass onto family or something.

Love Hate Kind of Relationship
I love/hate this shoe storage bench! It’s sturdy, it’s solid! It’s a pain to put together yourself… I’m impatient, what can I say. It was easy to put the outside together but challenging to get the dividers in place due to the length. Definitely ask for help! I scratched mine in a few places trying to do it myself. The only drawback is the cubbies are a little small so all my shoes that would fit have to lie on the side.

Much self assembly required
I have assembled these before, in another house. This time, six or seven years later, the quality of the "kit" is markedly worse, but if you can manage to get them together, they still look good.

Easy assembly decent design
This took me about 20 minutes to put together which was really nice. It seems super sturdy. The back panel didn't line up perfectly on mine when I went to nail it in. It doesn’t cover all of the unfinished wood. Not a huge problem for where I’m stowing it. Little spots where the nails could go evenly spaced would have been nice so there was no guess work and a cleaner look in the back. Again no biggie. My biggest qualm is that you have to put shoes as you would put them in a shoebox as opposed to next to each other soles down which I think would make for a cleaner look. I would have preferred 16 holes or something like that that could fit shoes side by side. Lastly, the first picture of the black looks a little gray which was appealing. I didn’t look at all of the pictures and the black is definitely black. A nice dark gray would have been my preference personally. About an hour into owning it and having it assembled, I’m rather happy with it. Great value for the price.
