A great insight into history
Fascinating to hear the voice of Caesar from across the ages. I was looking to see what he thought and how he gained the upper hand during his campaigns. Would not like to meet the Roman army head to head!

Pretty interesting
An easy read, historically interesting but not as explicit with regard to Caesar's tsctics and strategy as i had expected. still, very pleasurable to read and to think that these are the words of the great man himself.

This book really blew me away!!! We so rarely get to hear about "great" events from the actors themselves, let alone from such a great writer. Caesar writes with such clarity and power that one cannot help but be a little mesmerized by his version of events, even when he off-offhandedly mentions cutting off the right hand of of everyone in a city that resisted his siege. This rare book is a fascinating mix of history, propaganda, high adventure, ancient sociology, and a handbook about the dangers inherent in the gentle art of "nation building"- every American should read it. Also, look closely for the characters "Titus Pullo" and "lucius Vorenus" who appear in HBO's "Rome"!

All that I thought it would be and more. The translation is modern English so it's easy to read.
