I'm very familiar with the research behind this diet and decided to try the fasting kit after too much summer food indulgence. I did three separate 1-day fasts and you know what, it really did reset my cravings and got me back on track for clean eating. Do they taste good? Not really. But they are fully palatable and as someone who has done true daily or multi day fasting, having these kits is way better than not eating at all. So I had no issue with the food. That said, I've been doing different types of fasting for years and can easily go 24 hours without food. So this routine wasn't tough for me to stick to. If you've never fasted, it might be rough. You might need to repeat it a few times before it gets easier. Anyway, it works as a reset.

I’ve done intermittent fasting on and off for several years but I never have happily adjusted to eating nothing at all. I decided to try this out as I’ve read about Dr. Longo’s research. I know there are various DIY fasting-mimicking plans out there which are much cheaper, but decided to start with the official thing. Maybe I’m easy to please as I thought everything was tasty. I enjoyed the soups, enjoyed the protein bars, enjoyed the crackers. Sure it’s not a 3-star gourmet meal but it’s not supposed to be, and I found it very edible and easy to do. In fact I only give 4 stars instead of 5 because the two days are absolutely identical. After enjoying the first day I looked forward to see what I’d get for the second day. And then found it was just a repeat of day one. Still tasty but I was hoping for a variety.

I was skeptical about trying this, but overall, it wasn’t too bad. Food was palatable, only thing I struggled to eat were the olives because I hate olives, but if you like olives you’ll probably be fine. I didn’t experience any stomach upset or anything, and the soups were surprising filling. Not the greatest tasting soups, but they tasted ok. A little bland for my taste. I really liked the choco bar with dinner, it was a nice dessert to end the day. I’ll probably try to 5-day fast next.

So I actually love these. If you go through short periods of serious calorie restriction to cut weight fast, these are helpful. I struggle with straight water fasts. It would be really nice if we could select flavor though. Every box I've had so far contains the same stuff: one chickpea soup, one pea/chive soup, kale crackers, 2 mint tea bags, one breakfast bar, one chocolate bar, and olives.

I preferred this as a way to assist in fasting. I figured this would only enhance the fasting experience and keep me energized. The taste is awful. The soups smell ok but taste like strained sewage water. Clumpy and difficult to dissolve. A choice of flavor would have been beneficial. The supplements also leave a lingering taste even after several hours. Be prepared to either love that taste or deal with it. You cannot eat anything to cover the taste up and the only thing to look forward to is getting through the kit(s). This kit left my stomach upset as well. I think it was due to the supplements. The actual food items didn’t seem to have anything to upset my stomach but the taste of the supplements left my stomach in knots. I can attribute a lot of that to the algae oil. If you want to try something new, try something else. Spend your money on another kit because this is not what you are looking for.
