Good general-purpose desktop or home-lab server
The Raspberry Pi 5 is a phenomenal device! I'd say this iteration is just about good enough to be used as a full, low-powered desktop if you're okay with using Linux. When I got this, the only available OS I could find was 64-bit Raspian OS which works well enough, but there should be plenty of general-purpose and niche OSes available now. The only downside in my opinion is that a lot of the software I use on a typical x86 Linux machine is not compatible or needs workarounds. On the other hand, it's great for things like running a private DNS, private VPN, or other services for your home lab. I'd also recommend getting a case since this did not come with one.

The Raspberry Pi 5 is a winner!
I purchased this kit for the Pi, and the case that comes with this kit is nice and very well-built, but I won't be using this case because I will be using a 2TB NVME M.2 SSD with this Pi 5, so I will use a case with an M.2 NVME connector.All of the good things you may have heard about the Pi 5 are true so far, but I have to work with it for awhile longer which won't happen until after Christmas, since after it arrived my wife only let me play with it long enough to confirm that it works, then it got wrapped and put under the tree.I'll update this review when after I open it (the "one to open on Christmas eve").

What more could ya ask for out of a mini PC
For a mini PC itโs fast and reliable and best of all cheap! Bought for a gameboy SP build and it performs great for emulation

Good Pi Faster delivery than some other vendors.
The 5 will even download it's own installation from the internet. I ordered a Geekworm fan-less heat sink/case from Amazon for this, already have on on my pi4, it is much better than the little plastic cases and cheap fans that come with some of these Pi's. Those cheap little fans give out in a year or two.
