How to Draw Comics the "Marvel" Way

This book is awesome. I'm no comic book geek, and I'm not a top illustrator either. I am someone that occasionally like sketching and doodling though. I've always had an appreciation for the artwork in comic books, and thought I'd pick up this book for some helpful hints. I figured, If nothing else, there'll be some cool pictures inside. When it arrived, I was pleasantly suprised, it's a substantial book, very well layed out, and narrated in Stan Lee's quirky tone. It covers all the fundamentals, perspective, the figure, human heads etc. So far I'm very impressed. I'm predicting a massive improvement in the quality of my sketches!

Good value quality product, great book

This book is great but not perfect. What it does give you is terrific drawing advice for the absolute beginner in all things pertinent to drawing comics and heroes. The basics of perspective are covered, along with plenty of rules of thumb and tips from drawing humans. And all this is delivered with drawings of Marvel's mightiest and the amusing words of Stan Lee. The downside is the inking section is rather brief and there is no discussion of colouring or letters (just to help, there are special, professional felt-tip-like pens for the former purpose). Also, while the advice given is fantastic, it is rock-bottom basic. There is little to nothing for the intermediate student. However, for me, who is a beginner, I really like this book and the clear layout and instruct are well worth the price of admission.

Very good good place to start for comics and drawing

I first bought this seminal How To book as a 7 year old with a serious stutter. The drawing helped me communicate ideas and overcome my childhood anxiety. The original and best. Excelsior!

Great way to learn how to draw Good price and quick delivery

The book looked good but I had to send it back because it had drawings in pen over the pages

This is a great book just to leaf through but if you are actually going to use it for drawing purposes it is no less great. Perspective, foreshortening, facial expressions, settings - it's all here accompanied by a rye-smile-narrative that is all Stan Lee.

good paperback quality

It has a comprehensive guide to create the marvel superheroes. Even though it is not for the beginner, all the details on how to create a comic story were covered thoroughly.
