This product works great as its core selling point, as an air filter. Giving clean air and catching any bugs, leaves, etc that get into my 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage’s air system. For the secondary function with activated carbon, of decreasing scents: it works fairly well, but not as amazing as a dedicated activated carbon block in traditional home air filtration systems. However, there is not enough space for such inside of my car’s air filter slot anyways. And even so, it is a very noticeable different in scent even when driving past skunks, behind cars that smoke, and areas with just general air quality issues. If you’re a city driver, I’d definitely recommend a filter with activated carbon like this one. And for anyone else who wants their car to smell cleaner as well. This is also a very easy install, with clear directions for which way to face the filter. As well as being the cheapest activate carbon filter I could find that fits my car.

I was asked to write a review of this product. I can't give it 5 stars because I just installed it, I am giving it 4 off the bat because it was so hard to find filters to fit this car. Even my service station had the wrong part # for it. Amazon garage car filter gave me a wrong size before. THe one you want is very small, its 7x7x3/4". This is the one. THere are cheaper offerings, I chose this one because of the electrostatic layer and the charcoal layer. To people who complained its too porous, I can speak of furnace filters, you can get filters that are so dense they filter everything but they also impede airflow. I also use a charcoal filter in my furnace. Charcoal can grab/neutralize toxic vapors which regular filters do not, they only trap particulates. So for carbon monoxide (CO) and other things you don't want to breathe, I thought it was worth the extra $ to have charcoal filter. The fact that it may be more porous than some is ok given that it is electrostatically charged. This means it will allow more airflow, but it will trap particulates, they will stick to it, not pass through. I hope this helps somebody. The key is to change it regularly, as with any filter. Is it worth more to breathe clean air? it is to me. If you change filters every 6 months, it only costs $1 a month more. If you live in a smoggy city and drive a lot, you might want to change it more frequently. The only downside to charcoal filters is that they always look black, so how to know when its dirty? At home I use the Nordic Pure charcoal filter, I just change it every couple months, once a month in summer when AC runs nonstop, and January when heater runs nonstop.

This item fits the particular vehicle that is recommended for sure.
