Perfect performance for 2 years THEN TOTAL FAILURE--ADDENDUM!
I purchased model 62061N in May of 2018. It performed flawlessly during the summers of 2018 and 2019 here in the Boston area. This spring--2020--it started the growing season flawlessly as well, but its electronics failed in July, 2020. The symptoms included total loss of the display (except for momentary display of all segment when the batteries were fresh and the RESET button was pushed) and absence of response when the function dial was turned or the 3 buttons were pushed. A search of the Amazon site for warranty information failed because the warranty PDF was "corrupt." The Orbit website specified the warranty period is only 1 year and has made communications difficult so far. A Google search for help/experiences/ideas from others addressed other problems with the unit--though one utube video had the owner smahing the unit to bits! Total disassembly showed no corrosion or water damage with all parts appearing perfect. (Recall that the screen also displayed all segments on RESET.) My only recourse--because I NEED a watering timer--is to change brands and hope for the best. A little research yielded an email address for Orbit. I wrote the company with all the detail I could muster and almost immediately received a courteous--and very HUMAN--response. The customer service rep asked a few questions then referred me to a supervisor who then wrote me to say: 1)he was authorizing the shipment of the closest current model of the broken watering timer, and 2) he asked that I return the TOTALLY DISASSEMBLED broken unit in a pre-paid envelope that would be included with the replacement unit. I don't think that customer service can get much better than that, so I've raised my rating to 5 stars. One more thing: I ordered a new watering timer branded Rain Bird 1ZEHTMR, after examining many pictures online. I was looking for a unit that did NOT have the same internal workings, since I had earlier judged them to be problematic. The Rain Bird I ordered has a different external PHYSICAL appearance, but when I received it, on 8/10/20, I realized that it is virtually the same as the broken Orbit unit INTERNALLY.

Works as intended and holds up to severe sun and weather
This is the second Orbit watering timer I've purchased. This first one lasted 4 years and then started leaking 1.5 gallons per day. The leaking shouldn't be a big deal but my OCD forced me to buy another one. They work perfectly. I use them daily to add water to my pond from May through to September or October. I install new batteries in May and they seem to last the rest of the year.

Orbit Water Timer - Works Great! - Need Hammer Arrestor!
I bought this water timer because, I am a busy man, and I just don't have time to setup sprinklers and stick around to turn on/off the water. I bought a sprinkler set from Ray Padula and am running them off of this timer setup. It is super easy to program this water timer. All I have to do is slide the knob over to the desired position, and use the + and - buttons to set. Once the clock is set, I can easily set it to come on every 6 to 12 hours, every day, or other days of the week. I can set how long I want it to water, and what time I want it to come on. I can have it water up to 1 to 240 minutes, so that gives me some variety. There is also a manual watering mode I can activate to test the sprinklers. I also like this timer because, it only uses a couple of AA batteries, which are very easy to replace. I have only had this timer for a couple of days, so there is no telling how long it will last. Some people boast claims that it lasts over a season, so, we'll see. The reason I am giving it 4 out of 5 is because, I can't setup multiple waterings per day. The other reason I am giving it a 4 out of 5 is because, it causes water hammers whenever it turns on and off. I highly recommend a water hammer arrestor be installed on the spigot before you use this timer. For the price I paid, I got what I paid for, and I am happy with my purchase. UPDATE: 7/1/12 Since I read other reviews from others on this device that stated that it only worked one season and died, I thought it prudent to update you guys on longevity. I ran my timer for one season, then removed it and put it away with the batteries out for the winter. I did not reinstall the timer with new batteries till a week ago. So far this summer, my timer is still operating like the day I bought it and has no glitches. I was able to easily re-program it to water how often I wanted, when I wanted, and for how long I wanted. I think where most people are going wrong here is that they are leaving it attached to the tap with water inside it during the winter. I strongly recommend against this because the water will freeze, and when it freezes, it will expand inside there causing the internal plastics insides to crack. Once that happens, you will either have leaking inside, and or computer logic malfunctions. So keep it inside with the batteries removed for the winter season, and then bring it back out for spring and or summer.

Frustrated and done with Orbit—Constant battery and connectivity failures
**Headline: Frustrated and done with Orbit—Constant battery and connectivity failures** **Rating: ⭐☆☆☆☆** I really wanted to give Orbit the benefit of the doubt, but after cycling through multiple products, I’m officially done. I originally bought this **Orbit Programmable Digital Timer (62061)** to replace my **B-hyve Smart Timer and Wi-Fi Hub**. The B-hyve was a nightmare—it constantly disconnected from the bridge and the battery life was a joke. Despite being advertised to last much longer, I was lucky to get 3 months out of it, even with the schedule set to only twice a day. Thinking a "simpler" non-Wi-Fi digital timer would solve the reliability issues, I switched to this model. **It has been installed for only a few months and is already failing.** ### **The Issues:** * **False Low Battery Alerts:** Even with brand-new, high-end name-brand batteries, the screen constantly flashes a low battery icon. * **Mechanical Failure:** Because it thinks the battery is low, it no longer has the power to actually open the valve. My plants aren't getting water despite the timer being "on." * **Poor Longevity:** Two different Orbit models have now failed me in less than a year. It is incredibly disappointing to keep spending money on a brand that doesn't deliver on basic functionality. Installing these timers is never the "one easy step" they claim it to be, especially when you have to redo it every few months because the hardware quits. Save your money and the headache—look for a more reliable brand. This has been an expensive and inconvenient lesson.

Fantastic little timer
I have about 25 spray heads on my front planter zone. I needed to segregate them so I had better control over when they got watered. This little timer works awesome. It has plenty of water flow for all the heads, super easy to set up and program, and no wires. The only thing I will caution, it is likely water resistant but I would protect it from direct spray or rain if possible. Water got into mine after a few months and I had to take it apart and dry it out (still working great). I put a piece of plastic over it now so the spray heads can't get water directly on it.

Easy to set up and install.
Just installed this on a saturday with driplines, etc., in our new garden. Using plumbing tape it fitted very well on the old tap, and worked thru the program easily setting up, following step0by-step. Next morning early up and sure enough it;s working on time. The only thing you can't do it seems is setting up multiple times a day, but this was a breeze to install and really great to get us started and ready for the summer.

Great When It Works — But Needs Too Many Resets
I really wanted to love this Orbit 62061Z Hose Faucet Timer because, on paper, it checks all the boxes: easy to program, convenient scheduling, and it saves me from having to manually water the garden every day. And when it works, it does work well — the interface is fairly straightforward, and it’s nice not having to worry about forgetting to water. But here’s the issue: it randomly stops working. I’ve had to reset it several times over the past few weeks, and there doesn’t seem to be a consistent reason why. Sometimes it just doesn’t open the valve at the scheduled time, and other times it acts like it’s working — but the water never flows. A quick reset usually fixes it, but having to keep checking on it kind of defeats the purpose of “set it and forget it.” I’ve also tried swapping batteries and making sure it’s not getting too wet, but the hiccups keep happening. It’s frustrating, especially if I go a day or two without noticing it didn’t water — not great for a lawn in the middle of summer. Bottom line: when it functions properly, it’s a great little gadget and saves time. But the reliability isn’t quite there, and I wouldn’t trust it to run unsupervised for too long without occasional check-ins. Not a total dealbreaker, but not as dependable as I’d hoped.
