Got this for my son for christmas and he absolutely loves it. We have now bought more micro bit chips and have been diving into making our own projects.

I am not writing a bad review for this site/seller just the product. I purchased this kit for my son who is interested in technology and robotics. I work on and program robots myself. This kit at first seems ok but as you get into the more complicated projects, it requires extension downloads and other block functions. Many of these "required" downloads are not supported by microsoft and dont allow download. When you do get them downloaded, after a few runs of the program they no longer run because the extensions require an update which WILL NOT UPDATE..???? And tech support???? Virtually non existent.

I have completed a few of these with a kid that is very interested in learning so they are a go getter. You will need that attitude with this set because it does have a bit of a learning curve that they will have to overcome. The quality of this set seems pretty good, no issues with connecting the pieces or wires. There are a few oddities with the way they connect but it easy enough to figure out. The programming aspect of this was visual based and there are plenty of examples. I would say this is a budget set, but I do think it offers a good value for learning more about robotics. Yeah there are some problems and obstacles, but that is all part of problem solving!

I got this for my 11-year-old son and he loves it, particularly the building. The coding is interesting, too, though it relies on an accompanying website which, so far, is working fine. It has the option of downloading the program rather than typing all the code out oneself.

I would have loved to have something like this when I was younger, too. Alas, we had Lincoln Logs and Erector sets. I was expecting out teen grandson to be very into this, but did not expect that his older sister would lobe it even more. They spent all Christmas Day putting it together and programming it. It is an amazing tool to gently push them toward a more engineering/technical career path and they love it.
